Waiting for results

Went to the dermatoligist yesterday and had two (2) moles removed and about forty (40) skin tags taken off. One of the moles that he removed was one that I was concerned about because it had changed over the last few months.

When the DR looked at the mole that had been changing, he really didn't say a whole lot, other than he would take some off for biopsy and then burn the rest off with the laser. So now I don't know if I had built myself up to where I really thought it was a mole with melanoma or if he just doesn't get "excited" about things like that. So now I'm not sure what to think.

I am scheduled to go back next month to have a few more moles taken off and about another fifty (50) skin tags.

So for now, I guess I will wait for the pathology report to come back and I'll post when I find out. I guess the only "good" thing is that I've had suspicious (sp?) moles taken off before and they always came back benign. Although both my dad and my aunt (from mom's side) have had melanoma moles, neither one of them had a relapse. But I have melanoma on both sides of the family tree.

Let you know something when I find out.

Sounds like you're doing the right thing, being vigilant and keeping up with Dermo visits so that if anything develops it will get caught early. Waiting for biopsy results is nerve-wracking, I know from experience. Keep us posted!

I think your awesome for keeping up with your visits! It can be very nerve racking. I am waiting for results from a surgery last week as well as three more biopsy's. I have found myself thinking the worst to have them come back fine, keep your spirits up and keep us posted!

My wife had a mole that was malignant melanoma which was removed along with nearby lymph nodes April 1991 and has been cancer free since then. She has faithfully followed all checkups since that time. Her checkup / xray June 2009 revealed a "dark spot" on her lung which was three tumors on her lung. All the scans and bipopsy revealed stage 4 metatastic melanoma. Good news is that she was asymptomatic and has responded very favorably to the IL2 chemotherapy so far with the August and November treatments.

We are so grateful that she continued with the annual checkups. We went into our "journey" with cancer with a positive attitude and have done a lot of praying.

I wish you good luck that you will get a good pathology.

I understand how you feel because I'm going through the samt thing. I'm 25 years old and last week I went to the dermatologist to check my moles, he did a punch biopsy on one of them on my back, told me he needs to send it to the lab to make sure is nothing serious. I have stitches on my back that still hurts, going on mon to remove them. I'm waiting for the results and I'm so scared. I have like 20 moles all over my body and I do like to tan (never again) on top of everything also last week I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer (papillary carcinoma)early stage. News to me, came out of nowhere!!! Having my surgery soon. God bless you and please try to stay positve..it's hard but that helps. Let us know the results when you find out.

Everyone -

Sorry it took so long for me to post my results. Everything in the first round of mole removals, came back benign!! I thought for sure that the mole on my foot would come back positive for melanoma. I took a picture of it and held it up to some melanoma pics on the computer and it was a picture perfect match.

I go back tomorrow (2/11/10) to have more moles and skin tags removed.

I did notice that I have a swollen lymph node on my neck near the back and I don't know if it was swollen prior to the surgeries or not; or if it is a result of having the moles (5) and tags (40+) removed.

I promise to get my results posted faster this time. I figure to have about 6 - 7 moles removed tomorrow along with another 40 or more skin tags. We'll keep our fingers crossed for a good outcome again this time. And also hope that the swollen lymph node is "nothing".

Thanks everybody!!

Hello Hoosier,

That's good news :)

You have been vigilant and that's important when it comes to suspicious moles. Just be positive. Hope the report today is a good one.
