Navelbine/Gemzar Combination

Hi, I have Stage IV Peritoneal Carcinomatosis, which is treated the same as ovarian cancer. Just had fluid siphoned out of my abdomen, but it keeps on building up so that I am bloated and uncomfortable all the time. First had Taxol infusions, then went on Arimidex and then on Aromasin, which wasn't working. Now my oncologist is putting me on Navelbine/Gemzar chemotherapy. Has anyone had this combination, and what side effects did you have? Am nervous about it, but do want something that's going to work. Thanks for your input.

    Hi, I was hoping to hear from someone who might be taking or have taken this combination. I start getting it this coming Tuesday, and would like to have an idea what to expect. PLEASE let me know what your experiences have been with this. Thank you so much.

    Hi Carolyn,
    I have not heard of Navelbine...I was on Gemzar/Carbo for awhile. I just wanted you to know someone was reading your question...maybe everyone.....and we just don't know.
    Anyway, Good luck and please do let us know how your getting along on this treatment.

    Hi Joan,
    Thank you very much for your kind words. I'm sure I have seen both Navelbine and Gemzar on the board, but not in combination. Just wondered what I might expect. Of course, everybody is different in how they react to these medications, so hopefully I will be one of those who don't have the bad side effects. Hope you are doing well now and wish you all the best in 2010. As far as I'm concerned, 2009 was not a good year, so 2010 has got to be better! Thank you again for replying.

    I haven't had this combo yet. Only taxol/carbo and doxil/carbo in combinations. Please do not think we are ignoring you. We just don't know. I hope you will keep us posted as to how you react for as sure as shootin' one of us will be getting the combo soon too. Saundra

    Try the Lung Cancer board
    For some reason this combo rings a Lung Cancer bell way back in my head somewhere. You may want to post there for more input.
