When did you notice your hair starting to grow back?

Finished last chemo yesterday (only 4 A/C) and was just wondering when to expect hair to grow back..Actually I have not lost mine completely, still have some soft stubbles about 1/16" long, is that normal? Also stubbly legs. Oh and also still have eyebrows and eyelashes.

Just wondering if the "experts" can answer a quick question... thanks!!!

    Hey Tracy
    Well my experience

    Hey Tracy
Well my experience has been this: I finished chemo in Sept. I now have have what I think of as Julius Ceasar hair ...maybe an inch and a half all over...but straight and flat to the scalp..
It will be a while before I lose the wig...as to eyebrows and lashes...I didn't lose them until about 2 weeks after chemo...but they grew back really fast..in about 3 weeks...leg hair, face hair...all that is back , although I don't seem to have underarm hair anymore...
So if you use a wig, dont dump it yet....but you'll have hair by Spring...

I just was wondering...my hair normally grows pretty sloooow so we'll see I guess. I wonder if what is left will start growing or if it will go away and new will come in yet? Weird! Cuz I keep hearing all the stories of how it may come in different. I am hoping for curls!!!!! hahahaha
    Thanks again!

Congrats on finishing your chemo!! Wow, it seems like just yesterday you were getting your port put in. I didn't lose all of my hair either. I kept my brows-but they thinned. Lost most of my eyelashes on one eye, and my head has been bald & stubble patches. I finished Chemo the end of October and I am just now starting to see new sprouts. My legs and armpits are stubbly also but it's so strange-it seems like it just won't poke through all the way. But, I'll take that! Shaving is sooo much easier! :-) Be patient, before long it will ALL grow back!

I"m still onTaxol but have peach fuzz!
Finished the A/C 9 weeks ago and the stubble started about 4 weeks later. I laughed out loud when I read that Julius Caeser remark - SO PERFECT! It might be an inch long if I could get it AWAY FROM MY STINKIN HEAD!!! It lays so flat! Even after I wash and try to fluff it with a towel. I was thinking a blow dryer might help. hahaha

    Hair growth
I was on A/C every two weeks for 4 treatments and then Taxol w/Herceptin every week for 12 weeks. During the Taxol treatment my hair started to grow back and that was in June and am on Herceptin alone now. My hair grew fast and had my first haircut in October.
My hair was straight as a pin, brown with a little white.
My hair now has curls and you can see from my picture is salt and pepper and I love it. Natural frost job--compliments of chemo. I will be keeping it this way.

Your hair comes back soft like a baby's. No one tells you that the hair on the top grow back like a baby's as well--the Mohawk look.

    Hair
I finished chemo. at the end of Sept. and new hair started coming in the begininng of Nov. I now have a thick head of hair about 1" long. I lost the wig and scarves about 3 weeks ago. My hair is darker and thicker than the hair that I used to know. Good things take time, so be patient, it will come back! Jane

    Thanks everyone for your advice!!!!!!
Thanks so much - I am looking forward in anticipation with the way my hair will grow back and if and when I lose my eyelashes and brows. I now know kind of what to expect...thanks so much again..I know everyone is different pretty much, haha..

Marlene, I am ahead of you because they cut my Taxol out. So I only had a total of 4 A/C. That was good news.

My radiation starts in about a month, no date set yet..but will be a total of 5 weeks and then on to Tamoxifen.

How are you feeling Marlene? Are you getting nauseaus? I never really did at all except for yesterday and today, day # 2&3 after fourth chemo. I just have a few anti-nausea pills left and then done with those buggers.

Let me know how you are doing, OK???

    I finished Taxol in
I finished Taxol in November. Lost eye brow and lashes about the time I finished. Hair started coming back about 3 weeks now. No lashes or brows yet. It's just fuzzy right now. Not clear on color. Looks white, gray or blond.

    My treatment
I'm doing ok, Tracy.., no nausea really so I guess that's good. Still haven't lost my taste buds yet, which is good and bad, The weight is piling on like crazy! I've been experiencing swelling in my ankles and feet the past couple nights. I've noticed they've been swelling a bit, but the past two nights have been rediculous. I heard it is a side effect but I'll be calling the doctor today. Just two more to go and then onto rads like you. It's going fast but it is all so tiring. Why did they cut our your taxol? I'm so happy you did so well, Tracy, and your spirits seem so high!

    Hey Marlene
I am glad you are doing ok, you can do it! Just 2 left! YAY! My Dr. went to a big cancer meeting in Texas a few weeks ago and asked about me especially (being a transplant patient) and the general concensus is that since I am over 75% estrogen positive, I can continue right on to the Tamoxifen..they do not want me to have any of the side effects that Taxol can have like the neuropathy that I already have from having diabetes for so long....etc. things like that.
Anyway, I am not complaining about that part for sure! haha..I am glad you are hanging in there. I will PM you soon....Tracy

My thick head of hair is now thin
My hair never completely regrew after ceasing chemotherapy (Taxol), not even years later. I was 28 when I underwent chemo; I am now 32. No one told me this was even a possibility and I had no idea that it would regrow so thin. My mother, in her 70s, has more hair than me.

I am 37 now and have very thin baby like hair (I am 8 months from finishing chemo)
