Let me just say that I am soooooo glad to have that over with. There were some issues but we got through it all. Then when I got home I got sick from the Anastasie. I felt faint and made it to the sofa before I actually fainted. It freaked my husband out. I stayed in bed and slept the rest of the day and all of last night. I'm a little weak today with not eating since 7 p.m. Tuesday night so my husband made me a nice breakfast and that helped. Now I am pushing the liquids. We have an appointment first thing Monday morning to go over the results. Not sure if I will get back on the computer today but just wanted to say "Thank You" to everyone for your positive thoughts and prayers. You all rock!

    Surgery is over Gloria!!!!!
So happy to see you posting and to know that is behind you now! I am so sorry that you got sick though. I got sick in recovery from the morphine they had given me for pain. They gave me too much. :( So sweet of your husband to make you something to eat. Let yourself be pampered and you just rest and take it easy. You have been thru a lot Gloria. Sending you good luck for results on Monday. Let us know. Now, go rest!

    Glad you are home.

Glad you are home. Rest and take it easy right now. I always tell them that I get nauseous (vomit) after any procedure that requires any kind of sedation so they put something in the IV to counter that. I know it's too late for this now but remember it for any future (hoping none for you) procedures. Whatever they use really works.

    Thank you :)
Thank you all for your good wishes, prayers and suggestions. I am so thankful for this board and all of my sisters here. Good wishes to you all for the next step in your journeys!

I have been relaxing and finally decided to get out of the house for a bit this afternoon. It was nice out (for this time of year) so it felt good. I'll let you know what I find out monday.

Oh, I have to share this ... my older sister made me the cutest little card and brought me a gift the day of the surgery. She and I are both into making cards and scrap-booking. Anyway the outside of the card is decorated in pink including the little pink breast cancer emblem and a sticker she made that says, "pink is not a color ... it's an attitude" Inside she had a special little note about how precious time is and her gift to me was a fun little Timex watch that has a pink band around the clock. I will treasure it forever.

It was a great feeling to have my surgeon say, "I got it all". Margins are clear and no lymph node involvement. Nothing is better than that. My only advise is to rest as much as you can and keep it on ice. My doc said 2 days out of work but I stayed home for 5. Watch out for hemotoma (sp). Sometimes blood pools up in the place the lump was. The way they explained it was that nature doesn't like a void and blood can be drawn into the space. If that happens it isn't a big deal. They numb it up and draw the blood out with a syringe. No pain at all. Now that I'm completely healed, I can hardly see the scar.

to drain or not to drain
    Gloria and Roseann,
I had two huge hematomas that filled in the spaces left by 2 MRI biopsies. None of my docs wanted to mess with them. "They'll go away on their own." And they pretty much have (5+ months later), at least as far as I can tell from touch. The next MRI (January) should tell for sure. The surgeon's only concern was if she could excise them during the lumpectomy, but I reminded her of the location of my DCIS and that it was in a different quadrant of my breast! So she said not to bother about them. The less they mess with me, the better!
