I just joined this network and I wanted to extend a friendly ear, persay to anyone who might need it. I am a NHL survivor, recently in remission from diff. b-cell and follicular double whammy. I received 6 rounds of chop-r after a surgery to remove lg. lymph node that grew immensely in 6 wk time period. I was given remission news in mid Oct. and flying high b/c of it. I know it can have a recurrence, but I am thinking positively. I am 39 yrs. old and have 3 kids and wonderful husband. A lot to live for. The chemo was hard, very hard and I have cried many a tear. There is so much to everyones story isn't there? If anyone needs to vent to a soul that has been there feel free.

    Thanks for your support
I am 36 (just turned) and was dx with FNHL recently, my life totally changed up to the point where I had to take a leave of absence from my job, not because I can't physically perform but because the gov't said until they get all the facts in and then they will decide if I can get my airman medical certificate back so I can go back to flying. That brings me to yet another question, should I stay and keep persuing my carrer (if I do get my medical certificate) or should I go back to school and study something else that would not be so restrictive when it comes to my health. I ask my self that because the FAA can pull my medical certificate whenever they want and now they have a reason (FNHL). I just don't want to keep putting years into something that can be taken away in the blink of an eye because for me honestly these years are now golden but flying is what I love, it's my passion. This is just one of the many dilemas that I face now, but I know I have God by my side and a group of people that loves me and care for me. Take care and God bless.

    Hello again,

    Hello again,

I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Your dilemma at the moment is hard to deal with, i know, maybe step back and get yourself well before too big of decisions are made. If this is your dream, by all means don't give up.. Hopefully you can be put into remission. I left my job for 6 months to concentrate on getting well. I know everyone cannot do that though. Enjoy life for what it is right now and that is time to heal. I never thought I would feel normal again. Cancer sucks the life right out of you... but now I feel so good even on a bad day b/c I am here and nothing is more important than living life to the fullest.
Good luck and God Bless,,,keep posted on your progress..

    hello to you
Just sitting here (Denver) watching the snow, hoping the roads won't be too bad to drive the 45 min. for my outpatient visit. Still in my first 21-day cycle of a total of four. 5 days in the hosp for chemo and 16 days out. I was doing well until the first major clump of hair fell out yesterday. Hate to be vain, but somehow I thought it wouldn't happen quite yet.
Luckily, my family lives here in town and my husband is out of work (well, that's not so lucky!) but, he's here to help me.

Thought I could go in to work sporadically, but that's not realistic.

So, just thought I would say hello.

    Need help!
I have just been diagnosed with follicular lymphoma and am searching for anyone who might be able to help answer some of my questions. I am not very good with a computer and am going to give my email address: [email protected]. I don't know how to use the discussion boards and chat rooms. Please send an email if you might be able to help. Thank you, Danny

I have recently joined the network and am recently diagnosed as well; follicular lymphoma (non hodgkins). They tell me it is early stage but I am still very scared. I guess that's normal. I'm looking for anyone who can tell me what to expect now that I have been diagnosed. I have made appointments to see the doctor but am wondering about any treatments that are holistic in their approach such as vitamins, supplements, or certain foods to eat.
    Thanks and God bless

I recieved my diagnosis last Tuesday (December 22, 1009) I called my Daughter in Florida right away because I had told her I would. Stage 1V Non Hodgkins lymphoma. Not too good I found out when I went on the Web. My Dr. seemed to think it was no big thing and gave me a date to beging treatment. (The first Monday in the New Year) My Daughter, however, came unglued. She was employed by the Cancer Society in Sarasota, Florida up until she got married a few months ago. The web said prognosis was "not good." I plan on beating this thing though. However, I don't know what to expect. And, my Daughter said there was help to be had, financially. We live on Social Insecurity and have Medicare Advantage only. Want to clue me in? Thanks. BE WELL. Best Regards, Sheralyn Cogburn aka: rhinohunter13

    Good News
I had folicular NHL in 2009. I have been cancer free for months. Please do not read what you see on the internet. This is a very treatable disease. Stage 4 DOES NOT mean the same as stage 4 in another cancer. There are many people who are doing well 12 years out. I am 62 and I plan to take my last breath around 88:) Good luck to you and God bless. You are goig to be fine!!!!!
