I just checked my file....I was officially diagnosed with cancer on November 26, 2004....and given 6 MONTHS to live!!!!!!!

THAT means that tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day, I will be 5 YEARS since diagnosis!!!!!!!

Yes, it's true, that was my first (rectal cancer) BUT, my second (breast cancer) is coming in July, 2010.

I am dancing and dancing and dancing!!!! I used to see others' posts to this remarkable day, and really didn't expect to see it....but, I can say now to you all....don't give up, as much as it seems so unbearable. I never even considered losing to be one of my options...I still had so much to do in my life. If you all remember, my favorite saying is by Winston Churchill "If you are going thru H E L L, don't stop!!!!!".

I know it seems unattainable while in the thick of the battle, but I wish all of you a happy, long life!!!

    You are right Kathi, never give up, never give in, never let cancer get that upper hand if at all possible. You are a true testament to Survivorship .

    How appropriate is Thanksgiving Day to be your 5 year landmark. I also love the quote from Galaxy Quest Never give up, never surrender. And you didn't, you fought and did everything you had to do to reach this moment. You inspire others to fight the fight, to race through H E L L and to emerge victorious at the other end. I am proud to call you friend.

    Kathi, I have always been awed and inspired by your absolute refusal to let anything get the better of you. Now I am honored to be celebrating a joint anniversary with you! On November 26, 1983 I stopped drinking alcohol for good. As I begin my 27th year of sobriety, I congratulate you from the bottom of my heart on beginning your sixth year (with sixty more to come) as a Survivor.
