Since starting Taxol - sleep has been hard to come by - just don't get sleepy. I tried Tylenol PM (per CCI instructions) and it helped some but not much. When I was at chemo Thurs I mentioned that I was having problems with sleep and was given temazepam. Problems are it takes about 3 hours before I finally fall asleep and then have BAD dreams (normally never have Bad dreams - stupid dreams that make no sense yes but not Bad) and only sleep about 4 hours. Anyone else have these problems with it? I see my PA in the morning so will talk with her but was just wondering if anyone else has had problems with temazepam.

I had had a higher dose of
I had had a higher dose of decadron when on A/C with no sleep problems. I had the last A/C dose 5 weeks before first Taxol. Getting it IV now just on chemo day instead of the pills for 4 days with A/C so don't think that's the problem. Of course I could be wrong.

First dose I was finally able to get decent sleep the night before the next dose (weekly dose).

Hi Rague. I have never had
Hi Rague. I have never had that for sleeping. My oncologist gave me trazodone to help me to sleep. I have used it a couple of times and it seemed to work for me. You should tell your oncologist about the problems you are having and he can probably give you something else to help. Let us know.

    Rague, I did not take
Rague, I did not take Lorezepam, but I had crazy dreams from chemo itself. Like you describe, just weird stuff, not nightmares. Busy dreams, too. Zanax usually helps me sleep. Good luck tomorrow; your onc. I'm sure can help you.

    taxol seems to cause sleeplessness
so I tried benadryl and finally got some sleep.....
I figured it makes me sleepy BEFORE the chemo, so why not after?

I was give Lorazepam for anxiety. I have only taken it a couple of times during the day to calm my nerves down and it works. But, it never made me go to sleep. I hope you find something to help you.

    I had same problem!
The brand name of this med is Restoril. My Onc put me on it to help regulate my sleep. I had the exact effects you are describing and after 1 week, took myself off of it. Also, I was so drowsy the whole next day, that by the time I felt fully awake, it was time to go to bed again! Pammy

    I started having bad dreams
I started having bad dreams about the time I got diagnosed with bc. I think that is common from what my oncologist said. It is the fear, anxiety and apprehension of having bc. I was given lorazepam also for my anxiety and a sleeping pill. I hope that you find something that works for you.
