Well, I had hoped and prayed that I could say that I was "Dancing with NED", but, I can't quite say that yet. NED is being very elusive and I think, playing hard to get, but I swear, I am going to dance with him forever real soon or else! lol

I had the CAT scan November 2nd and had a bad allergic reaction to it, as some of you already know. I told the techs that I was allergic to mercury compounds, but, the techs said that since that was topical, that the iodine in the contrast material that they put in my IV should not bother me. IT DID! I broke out in hives and could hardly breathe. The techs gave me benadryl right away, and, it stopped the hives and I could breathe rather quickly. WHEW! So, that was the most exciting CAT scan that I have ever had. But, I do not want a repeat of it..ever..thank you very much. It was a tad bit scary, to say the least.

We met with my rads oncologist yesterday to go over the CAT scan results. NO CANCER! YEA!!!!!!!!!!!! What they did find in re to the pain that I have been having is that I do have diverticulitis, which is manageable with medication, some food changes and try to reduce my stress. ( like that will happen lol ) Also, I have some nerve damage to my back and that has been probably causing most of the pain. He has made an appointment for me with a back/abdominal pain and nerve specialist, but, it isn't until January. But, that was the soonest he could get me in. He said that they will do an ultrasound to pinpoint what is going on for sure and then it can be treated probably with medication and physical therapy. So, I can handle that. I just hate that I have to wait so long to see him. He said if they get a cancellation, that I am first on the list to be called. I was so relieved to find out that there was no cancer in my abdomen, back or anywhere in that area.

Ok, now I see my surgeon on December 8th, to have a needle excision or needle aspiration to get a tail on one of the cysts. I know, it sounds funny..I laughed. I guess 1 to 2% of people have this happen to them and I am one of them. Lucky me! I apparently have those 3 complex cysts with debris in them and 1 septated cyst, which is the tail. Ok, stop laughing and I mean it! lol He will be guided by an ultrasound to get the tail first and after that, the other cysts might or are suppose to just dissolve and go bye bye. If not, then I will have outpatient surgery where he goes in and takes them out. All of this will have to be tested for cancer. But, I am hoping and praying that it will be benign and then finally, I can grab NED and dance the longest dance ever. ( hubby said it was ok, he wouldn't be jealous lol )

Once again you sweet, dear friends, have overwhelmed me and cheered me on when I just felt almost hopeless. I have fought bc twice and with all of these tests and bad reactions and still not knowing if I am free of cancer, it does get overwhelming, or for me it has. And, especially since it is almost a year now I have been going thru surgery, test after test, rads or doctor visits. But, with all of your support, notes, posts and kind words and prayers, I have focused on getting thru this and living a full and happy life cancer free! Thank you all! I don't know what I would do without each and everyone of you! Please continue your prayers for me as I still need them with these cysts. Pray that they are benign.

Good friends are like stars...You don't always see them, but you know they are always there!♥

Love, Jeanne ♥

That is horrible that you had that reaction. I am so glad that they took care of it so quickly for you. I hope they make sure it can't happen again.

I was hoping to see you post and to see that you could dance with NED. I will continue to pray for you Jeanne that your cysts will be benign.

I would give up dancing with NED to any of you. I truly would. But, if I can have him and he can still be with all of you, that would be the best! I will gladly share him with everyone! Yes, I feel like you, if they are waiting to drain the cyst tail thingie, they must feel ok about it. But, prayers always help. Thank you Calleen for your kind and positive words. How are you doing? Ok, I hope. I read on here about what you will be doing on that board. That is a huge honor and you should be very proud of yourself. I am of you. You will be great on it!

It was horrible. I have never had anything like that happen before where I couldn't breathe. Glad hubby wasn't in the room, they would have had 2 of us going nuts then. lol It should have been in my records and I did tell them, but, I guess they didn't think it would react to me since it was in the IV. Live and Learn I guess.

Thanks for your continued prayers..I need them Debby.

I hope they did put it in your records REALLY BIG! That is awful that they let that happen. I hope they will be more careful in the future with you and with others about allergic reactions. Hope your days are better now. I will continue to pray for you!

Did they say Jeanne how a cyst can form a tail? I have never heard of this. Just curious.

But, I guess if it is only 1 or 2% of the population that get it, it is considered rare. Sorry you were in that percentage.

Jeanne, so glad to see you posting. So sorry about your scare with the CAT scan. I would have been terrified. So, benadryl did the trick? That stuff puts me to sleep. Just glad you are thru that now.

I will continue to send you my prayers for the cysts. Praying for no more cancer!

HUGS!

Of course, sweet Jeanne, you are still in my prayers. Complex cysts do need to be evaluated carefully. But my understanding is that if they collapse then all is good. And even if they have to go in and take them out it could be something other than cancer. At least I hope so. Never heard of a tail. Are you sure it isn't a really large sperm that lost it's way. They have tails. Or maybe one of Tasha's missing guppies. Are you the one responsible for the giant dog eating guppy. Better confess.
Seriously, I know how worried you are and we are here for you. Everyone hates the wait and you have been having an unusually long one. With several side trips. So, sincerely my prayers are that at the end of all of this, is a tall, dark or short, blonde, or middling red haired or any combination of the above gentleman named NED who will extend his hand and as you put your hand in his, he will lead you to the floor. You will be in a long, swirling, beautiful gown and you will be wearing your gorgeous expensive shoes. He will be in white tie and tails with a top hat. The music will gently begin. He will hold you close and just as The Tennessee Waltz begins, it switches to, yes, you guessed it, "Stayin' Alive" and you are now wearing disco attire. Okay, just a thought.
Love ya gal and wishing for the very, very best in test results,
Stef

Oh, Jeanne, I am so glad to read your post, although you do have some "dangling" issues. Those seem to be such a long shot for anything serious, but I will keep you in my prayers anyway. You never know when bc hits, and then other things seem to follow. You have been through so much, with the two times bc, reaction to the CAT scan, and everything else you have managed to endure, it now time for you to catch a break. I have been anxiously awaiting your post, so am glad to know the news. Maybe I can relax a bit now. When one of us is in a situation where we are playing the "waiting game", it affects all of us, and I will assure you that everyone here is glad to have heard from you. Keep us posted on your progress, and also when the test is schedule on the "tail thingies". (Had to laugh at that.) Hugs.

Ok, you made me laugh hysterically talking about my "dangling issues"! Thanks for that! It would be nice to catch a break. I have been fighting bc this time for almost a year now, with no breaks, and, I could really use one. I just hope that I won't have to wait too long for the results, either when he aspirates them or if he has to operate on them. I am sick of the waiting game. Ofcourse, I have been guilty of bugging them to death by calling everyday. Serves them right. lol

I will keep you posted on my "dangling issues" with my "tail thingies"!
( still laughing at those descriptions...thanks Judy )

How are you doing Judy? Physical therapy every week? And, how is sweet Casey? I pray much better. I am keeping both of you in my prayers!

Is benadryl just for allergic reactions? I thought people used it for sleeping pills too. You said it put you to sleep Jeanne. Just wondering.

I think my rads oncologist suggested benadryl lotion when I broke out in a rash from the radiation. It didn't work, but, I tried it.

A nurse friend of mine calls Benadryl "a lovely little drug." Not only can it make you drowsy, it stops allergic reactions. It is an anti-emetic (nausea drug). It's a great OTC substitute for anti-anxiety meds like Xanax and Ativan. I just have to make sure I take it early in the evening if I want it to help me sleep, because I do get a "hangover" the next morning if I take it late (just a little fuzzy, no headache or nausea.)

You always say the perfect thing to me! I need you to move in with me...CMERE! lol We are praying that they will collapse when the surgeon gets the tail. Sperm? OMG! I hope not. I mean, my hubby is all MAN, but, wow, that would be a long way for it to go. lol Ok, I need to stop this now before I get banned from the site.

One of Tasha's missing guppies? EWWWWWWWW, but, that is a thought. Tasha, what do they look like dear? lol

And, your description of "The Dance" is perfecto! Stayin Aliveeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Love you Stef!

Well, if it helps I move into all my dear sister's hearts. And that I mean with all of my heart.
I use humor a lot dealing with this and sometimes I worry after I post that I have crossed a line. So in advance, to all my sisters, I just have a little warped sense of humor but it is given with love.
I love the all man comment. But his aim ain't go good. Sure did over shot his mark. Whoops, I am liable to be banned as well.
I had been trying to think of a song that fit our dance with NED and that one seems so right. Right title and it is so spirited. Although I was not a fan of the disco era, I did love that song. So for me, Stayin' Alive is just right.

That is such a sweet loving way of putting that Stef! See, you do always know what to say! I think when I first met you on this site, I wasn't used to your humor, so, there were some: hmmmmmms, what?, OMG's and just plain HUH's? lol But, I don't think I was reading it as it should have been read, as I do now. As I have told you, I seek out your postings as they are always so inspirational, so loving, so supportive and encouraging. And, this when you are going thru a trying time yourself. You are some woman Stef! I admire you! I still pray for you and your daughter everyday!

The song is perfect, as I said. You came up with the perfect words to say again! Now, what do I need to wear? hmmmmmmm Disco ideas anyone? I can steal the mirrored ball from Dancing with the Stars ( i love that show ),but, whatever do I wear?

Well, I do need help if NED is expecting disco. lol No clothes here that I know of. Unlessssssssssss hmmmmmmmmm

Dancing with the Stars wasn't as good as usual last night, or, for me it wasn't. Ofcourse, I favor Derek and Joanne. Who is your fav? Wish I could dance like they do. I taped it, want me to mail it to you? lol

That is so sweet of you, but I have a friend that taped it and I think I shall borrow it from her, but thank you. Derek and Joanne are my favs although I like Mai. Len sure doesn't care for her. Here is a cyber idea for your dance. Cyber is good because it doesn't matter what figures we have in reality, it always looks perfect. Color should be turqouise (for Tasha and that was a popular color then), fitted leotard type top with lots of glitz and bling, and a flowing skirt that is cut on the diagonal and higher on one side that the other. Very high heels with kitten toes (just because I love kitten toes). Panty hose or skin toned tights should be worn. And NED, of course will be in a white tux (think Travolta). You will be marvelous, darling, marvelous and will be the belle of the ball. So much more fun than a square dance. So just get the word and the music will begin.

And, I LOVE your idea of "The Dance"! Love it! Thanks Stef!

Jeanne, thank you for expressing what I also feel about Stef. You are pretty extraordinary, Fauxma; did you know that? Your indomitable spirit, your quick wit, your wise outlook on life, and your loving heart--that's a rare combination. Thank you for making me laugh as well as our Jeanne.

As for you, Ms. Jeanne, no whippersnapper cyst is going to stop you. Still, the waiting is hard, as we all know. We are waiting with you. And we'll celebrate with you, too.

Of course, we're probably eating more ice cream than is good for us. Me, I bought more ice cream sandwiches for Aortus, and Reeses peanut butter Klondike bars for me. (Hey, if you're gonna splurge, splurge big.)

By the way, Stef, I didn't remember that you live near San Francisco. Joe and I are visiting there next spring. So save some ice cream for us!

Moopy,
Yes, I live about 45 minutes to a hour and half (depending on commute times) from San Francisco. I was actually born in San Francisco and lived there until I was 9. Then we moved to South San Francisco where I lived until we moved to our little town further north. I am actually not far from Re. Have you ever been to San Francisco? I love it. Even being here all my life, I continually find new places to see. It is a incredible city with so many things to do and see. My daughter studied voice at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and lived there for several years and one of my favorites things was going to Golden Gate Park. Love the tea garden and museums. Enjoy your trip. I think we will probably be up in Pollock Pines when you make this trip. Otherwise it would be fun to meet up somewhere. Let me know when you are going to be here. Maybe I can go down to Denise's in Alameda and then jet over the bridge and we could make a connection. Would be so fun to meet you and Aortus? And yes, ice cream would have to be consumed.

I was thinking the same thing that i loved her name. doesnt it seem like its always something, but i am sure you are DANCING WITH NED NOW, our bodies are always growing these cyst things. My freind who had cervical is followed closely on Pet had cysts they thought they would have to excise but decided to follow on second Pet and decided it was not anything but a long time in between wondering. I was wondering how it all went.

I have had these cysts since my lumpectomy in January, so, they do need to come out for sure and we need to be sure that they are benign This is my second bout with breast cancer, so, I can't let anything go. Also, when I first had bc 24 plus years ago, I had the lump for over 2 years in me and I knew it. More of this is on my Expressions Page, if you want to know. The point is that when I asked my rads oncologist back then point blank...that if I would have had that "cyst" taken out when I first found it, if it would have been bc way back then, and, he said "maybe not." So, I learned from that day on, to never leave a cyst in my body. Always get them out and have them tested. I wish they would have just dissolved, but heck, now they are growing tails!

You know that NED, he is so busy right now, you may have had your dance go by so fast you missed it? Oh well, he will be back to dance with you again soon! Let us know when you have any more news! 101 flavors of ice cream and I only like vanilla, chocolate and orange sherbert, but I like them alot. Especially vanilla, with peanuts, chocolate syrup, and cool whip heaped on top. Or gigantic ice cream cones. And eskimo pies, and those little sundae cups, and original drum sticks, and fudgesickles and oh I am so craving ice cream now and none in the house. BOO HOO!!

Now, how could the grandma of such adorable kids be so cruel? You just had to have company in your ice cream despair, didn't you? It's almost 10pm here, and my freezer is limited to Joe's Blue Bunny ice cream sandwiches. No syrup, no cool whip, no....

Jo and Jazz, your grandma needs a time-out. Help!

Bad Stef! I have no ice cream either. Wait, maybe I do. OMG, I do have those ice cream drumsticks and I love them! I hid a couple from the hubby and he never found them. WOOHOO! I am so happy! I will share Moopy if you want to come on out and get one!

Too funny Moopy, telling Jo & Jazz to give Evil Grandma Stef a time-out! LOL

So good to finally hear something from you. We have been worried. Wow, you have been thru so much. Glad that you will be seeing a specialtist for the pain. I hope that helps you. And, I will continue to pray that when they remove and test your cysts, that they are benign. So, NED will be coming to get you!

Jeanne,
I am so jealous. And Moopy I am not evil. I am ice cream deprived. All I could find was a box of iced over fruit bars. I need a time out alright. A time out at the ice cream store. I know where I am going tomorrow. Yes, to the store and to the frozen food section and then I am going to fill my freezer with yummy ice cream. But I will share. Just hop a plane to either the Oakland or Sacramento airport and I will pick you up. We can pig out on ice cream together. Of course, if you use that air fare you can buy a ton of ice cream. I know, let's all do a cyber ice cream party tomorrow night. See you at 6 pm Pacific time. Bring your favorite ice cream and topping and we will all get a sugar high together. Sometimes I am a very bad diabetic. But not too often. I have to keep my numbers low or it's insulin for me. So I only do this on rare occasions. As JJ likes to say, ice cream is a sometimes food and if you eat too much sometimes food you won't be healthy. Out of the mouths of babes. But since he isn't going to be here tomorrow night, let the ice cream be scooped.
Love to you all,
Stef

I stumbled across this thread last night and was enjoying the back-and-forth when I read my wife's reference to Blue Bunny ice cream sandwiches.

"Blue Bunny ice cream sandwiches!" I thought to myself. I got up from the computer desk and sauntered, as coolly as I could, to the freezer. No Blue Bunny ice cream sandwiches to be found.

So either Moopy never really bought me any Blue Bunny ice cream sandwiches, and was just speaking figuratively (which is fair enough, because she often does buy me Blue Bunny ice cream sandwiches and put them in the freezer for me).

Or she got to the freezer first and, inspired by this thread, ate all the Blue Bunny ice cream sandwiches herself before I could get to them.

Any ideas?

While I suppose that Moopy could have been speaking figuratively or even eaten all the Blue Bunny Ice Cream Sandwiches, it is entirely possible, no probable, that you as Evil Aortus disguised as a cigarette smoking canine ate all said ice cream sandwiches yourself. Or perhaps you used them to lure, yes I said lure, guppies from Tasha's care. Don't think that the innocent quise of a confused husband (are there any other kind) in Missouri will fool me.
And just what is a Blue Bunny ice cream sandwich anyway? Poor blue bunnies, made into ice cream, how could you do that? Or do they turn blue after they put in the freezer? Oh, the mind reels.
Sorry about the lack of ice cream. Seems to be the pattern right now. I need an ice cream fix soon.

Glad they found a reason for your pain, though sorry you have it. And, I will keep praying that your cysts are all benign! And, one has a tail? I have never heard of that. God Bless you Jeanne!

I did have to smile when I read about the tail on that cyst. Sorry, but, even you thought it was kind of humerous. Never heard of that. But, since only 1 to 2% have it, you just got lucky. :(

I will be praying that your cysts are benign Jeanne. I have never heard of one having a tail either, so, I have learned something. Hopefully, your surgeon can get it and the other cysts will dissolve and you can be dancing with NED finally!

CAT, tails, hairballs...this is all too darn funny. Thanks for the laughter! I needed it! I love you guys!

Ok, now the serious crap. I am scheduled for surgery next Wednesday, November 18th. He is calling it a right breast excisional biopsy. The lumpectomy part scared me as I just had one in January of this year. So hopefully, the cysts won't be hard to get and he won't have to take too much. The good thing..once this is done and they are tested for cancer, I will be done for awhile and can either declare NED or fight the beast again. But, I am hoping, praying for NED. And, I know all of you are for me too. Apparently, his nurse got mixed up in scheduling me for a needle aspiration, as he said that won't work for me, that I needed surgery. So, when I talked to her, I thanked her for making my day. Seriously though, I really just want to get this over and know one way or the other. So, it will be fine. Ok, think that is it ladies!

I know that surgery is not exactly good news, but I know you will be relieved to have it done and over with. You've fought this thing more than once, I know, and you can do it again if need be. But it is very likely that you won't need to. Again, best, best thoughts and wishes as the day approaches. I hope you have a nice, relaxing weekend, Jeanne.

I imagine that they want to do an excisional biopsy rather than a aspiration because there is debris seen in this cysts and you said they were complex, not simple so that plays into it as well. The upside is that you will know one way or another. If they did an aspiration maybe something might have been missed. And it is next Wednesday so at least you aren't waiting weeks for them to do this (and we know that happens). Hopefully they will have news soon after and you can not only dance with NED but truly have a Thanksgiving Day.
My prayers are continuing for you.
Glad that our humor is helping you. Laughter is good for our souls.

Last year my sister had another scare, she has had loads, all cysts. This one was described as a Mouse (Nope nothing to do with your cats and tails) It would literally run across the breast whilst they were trying to get the ultrasound...It ran back and forth several times and scared the bejaysus out of her. But thank goodness, it turned out to be benign as well.

Jeanne, wanted to send prayers and positive thoughts your way. I too had a reaction the the CT dye and it is so scary, so I know how you felt and wouldn't wish that on anyone. It is the worst feeling in the world. Same thing happend to me with Taxol. So scary! I truly hope that soon enough you will be dancing with NED. Thinking of you. Karen

I am thinking of the two of you tomorrow. I'll be at a boring conference all day, and I hope that your procedures are similarly uneventful.

Don't be afraid about tomorrow. We have all said so many prayers for you that I know the outcome will be benign! And NED will be coming for you. Wishing the best of luck with your surgery. Post when you can to let all of us know how you are.

Hugs,

Sue :)

You know you are. For going thru bc twice, and, still always so positive and so much support on this board to others, you are my hero Jeanne. Know that you are in my prayers and I will be waiting to hear that those cysts are clean and that you are finally "Dancing with Ned"!

Love Kristin ♥
