Did you hear a chant today sounding like" CSN, BC BOARDS?" Are your feet tired? Do your legs ache?

If so, it's because I finished the half marathon in record time! For me, anyway, which ain't sayin' much! I have had to stop even thinking about running, and I walk the course at a really good steady clip~ no strolling! The is beautiful, along the ocean and winding around some really pretty neighborhoods But I did 13.5 miles in 3 and a half hours! And my feet are tired, and my legs do ache...but I soooo did chant "CSN, BC BOARDS" for the last 2 miles when I was seriously tired and wanting to be finished! The course is uphill a lot of the way, and OMG, a few times my shins were saying some very nasty things to me! Sounded a lot like, "Quit now,old woman!" But I ignored my body, I thought of all of you and kept going! And I crossed the finish line, I got a medal, and was sooo happy!

So, tomorrow is a nothing day~ feet up, and watching a few old movies on TV! But I must say I feel successful and yeah, proud of myself! ( Thankfully, these events are only once a year!) LOL

Hugs,
Chen♥

Wow Chen... 13.5 miles... I don't think that I walked 13.5 blocks today... You are an amazing warrior sister and one I am proud to call my friend... thank you for thinking of all of us today and setting such a wonderful example of hope, strength and inspiration! Pamper yourself tomorrow... more specifically those feet! They (you) deserve it!

♥ & hugs,

~T

Congratulations, girl! Awesome job. I was a cross country runner back in the day and I never attempted more than 10 miles and I was in my 20's! You Rock! :)) What a feat, what an accomplishment and what an inspiration. Awesome is all I can say! Thank you for being such a fierce warrior and encouraging those that are behind ... waaaaaaayyyy behind you! :)))

Take some time to get those tootsie soaked and pampered. You set such a great example for us. Loved the chant - thought I heard something on the wind. You are definitely not an "old woman" by any stretch of the expression. Relax you deserve it. Lola

I am thinking they absolutely did not, Jadie, darn it anyway! As with many things in this life, thinking I could prevail with ultra long legs was another Myth Busted!:-)

I am honestly not replying to myself; I am replying to all of you! You have made my ♥ smile, and made the tired feet and achey legs all worth it. I never, ever did any 5 or 10K's even as a young woman, and definately not a half marathon! All of this is my post BC life~so if any of you is encouraged AT ALL, I am beyond happy! And I never, ever do any of this without including all of my BC sisters in my psyche. YOU inspire ME! Thank you all!

Hugs,
Chen♥

An inspiration doesn't even come close to describe what you are! That is truly amazing, Chen! 13.5 miles??? To be faced with the fear of whether we will live or die and to see a post like this 6 years after your diagnosis most definitely makes a believer out of me! There may not be a 'cure' but from your example, we are all blessed with the idea that life not only continues after dx, but it can start on a whole new level! Enjoy resting those weary feet & legs... you accomplished a feat not only for yourself, but for all of those running (or walking, lol) behind you!

With big hugs & gratitude, Marlene

I don't run either...my g/f neighbor and I walk 5 or more miles 3X a week, and this is our 2nd half marathon. Her sister joined us as well, and shaved 2 minutes from last years event, and are you ready? Her 84 year old mom does the 5K portion of the event!! Just remember that we are not in competition, and are just doing a personal best~ 1 block, 1 mile, 1 street, as long as we are moving, everytime we do we are the better for it. If I encourage even one of us to get moving, YAY!!!!!

Chen, I read your post in awe and appreciation. You are always there for us, newbies and longtimers, on these boards, and I can only say "thank you", and it sounds so meager compared to your Sister Warrior efforts.

Have your rest today, watching old movies sounds like a nice relaxing reward (a bowl of ice cream would top that off nice!)

thank you again, dear Chen

I second the motion that you should have some ice-cream!! I feel accomplished if I walk to the next room!! You indeed are an ispiration and someone to admire! I knew I was extra tired yesterday and now I know it is because you took us with you. Hmmmm...I guess that means we deserve some ice-cream too!! (giggle) Pammy

Yup...ice cream for everyone! Or sorbet or sherbet or frozen yogurt with all the toppings your hearts desire~all to be eaten while we are getting foot massages! LOL I would say that might be better than some physical pleasures, but I don't want to stir up controvery or get flagged as offensive! :-)

Claudia, way to go!! I just read this and wanted to say how proud of you I am. I am thinking of participating in a marathon that is held here in Jacksonville in February. It was started by a local television reporter that battled breast cancer 3 times. I'm not a runner any longer and was toying with walking the half marathon. I'm pretty active but that still seems like a long way. Hope you got your R and R yesterday!!

If you have runner-history and you feel up to it by February, go for it!!!! I need not tell you that even for the walk, train, train, train! You are right~ it is a long distance! The lactic acid in my body is still evident 2 days later. I can advise you to walk on different surfaces and especially inclines~ I wish I had done much more incline walking; it would have made my old body much happier after the fact, I'm sure! But as a runner, you know all of that already.

I am already proud of you for even considering this~ let me know what you decide! Go! Go! Go! Know why? Because it's YourTurnNow! LOL LOL
