I had my fourth dose of carbo yesterday for my recurring tumor on the colon. For the first time, I had a reaction at the end of the dose. My nose stuffed up, I turned red, ears, palms, and between my legs started itching. I called the oncology nurse over and then I had three nursed checking and hanging bags of benedryl, and steroids and watching oxygen levels, blood pressure, and heart rate. I settled down pretty quick. I have had 13 doses of chemo and they said that this reaction usually hits at 8 or 9 so I feel pretty good. I will see my gyn/onc next Wed. but I probably will not be given carbo again. IT WAS WORKING SO GOOD!!! My CA125 was down to 53 last week from 434 when I started the chemo 4 months ago.
God is good,

Saundra,

He is so good! You always have such a postive attitude. 13 doses of chemo!! Wow. I am on my second and pray that is the end and it is not chronic. ☺

So happy your CA is going down.

Love,
Libby

Hi Saundra, because it is working so well you may get it but over 24hours, that is how it was given to me last time because I am so allergic to it. Glad your ca125 is 53 and you are okay. Hugs Bonnie

I am sorry about your reaction considering how good the carbo is working on your CA-125. You and the other "experienced" warriors are my daily source of information and inspiration. As I am currently taking Carbo, your post will keep me aware that reations can happen at any time...I thought if you are OK the first time you will be OK for all of the rounds. Thank you.
Life Is Good, Never Give Up,
MK

PS Here is a daily prayer I would like to share:
Do not look forward to what might happen tomorrow;
the same Everlasting Father who cares for you today,
will take care of you tomorrow and every day.

Either He will shield you from suffering
or He will give you unfailing strength to bear it.
Be at peace then, and put aside all anxious thoughs and imaginings.
St. Francis de Sales

Thanks for keeping us informed. So unfortunate that you have to stop carbo but such a great drop!! Any idea what they will give you now?
Take care,
kathleen:)

No idea at what the next chemo will be. I will see my Dallas gyn/onc on the eleventh next week. He calls the shots on which chemo. Maybe I will get more carbo at a reduced rate of infusion over a longer time period. Hope you are doing okay. Saundra

Hi Saundra,
I'm sorry you have to deal with this new problem.

It's good that the carbo got your CA down as low as it did.

Keep us posted, we care about you, you're a very sweet soul.

Hi Saunra,
I just finished up my 4th chemo with Carbo/Taxol. I have been itching all over, called my obgyn and was told to take benadryl. I have a rx for Atarax so I guess I will try that instead since I cant take Benadryl. I'm sure the docs will figure something out for you. It must be good, after three treatments, my CA125 down to 30 from 273.

God Bless,
Sheila
