Well, two cortisone shots and four weeks of physical theraphy later, the ortho has decided that surgery is the answer for my shoulder. Although still thankful the pain isn't a bone met, I don't look forward to having to be laid up during the first part of the holidays. They think it is just a bone spur ("just"), but will look at the rotator cuff for a tear while in there. Recovery between the two is drastically different (bone spur - 2 weeks physical theraphy; torn rotator cuff - 6 weeks immobility, then 6 weeks of physical theraphy). Wish me luck. At least I'm not dealing with another cancer recurrence. Surgery is next Wednesday, Nov. 4th, and then on to recovery. Hope everyone has a good week. Hugs.

My sister had both of her rotator cuffs done, not at the same time ofcourse. She got a long great and was never immobile. She had to sleep in a recliner for a couple of weeks and take physical therapy, but, got along great. Good luck to you!

Good luck, Judy. I'm just glad it was the lesser of the two evils. Wishing for the least invasive surgery and a speedy recovery.

Hoping you get away with the easier recovery, but either way, at least you'll be on the mend and will feel better in the long run!

Take care,

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. The surgery will determine how long I will be down, so hopefully it is just a bone spur we are dealing with. Noel, Casey is doing okay, still being monitored, and still having some difficulties with digestion. The medication they put him on should aid in digestion over a period of time, so keep your fingers crossed. Boy, when it rains, it pours around our house. Hugs to all.

Glad Casey is doing okay, hope the digestion problems resolve. My fingers, toes and everything is crossed for him. Well, figuratively anyway.
Good luck with surgery. Hope it is a bone spur and that your down time is small.

I am not happy that you are having surgery, but, if the "easier" one is for a bone spur, then, I am hoping that is what they find. And, that you will just have to have physical therapy and be fine after a few weeks! So, I am sending lots of healing and good thoughts and hugs to you!

I am sad to hear that Casey is still having difficulty. I pray that he will be better soon! I am crossing everything for your family!

Love, Jeanne ♥

You are more than welcome my sweet friend Judy! I go tomorrow, the 28th, for a consultation with the surgeon about the cysts, to see what we need to do. They will have to be tested to see if they are cancerous or benign. So, I don't know if just a needle biopsy will work or if I will have to have surgery to remove them and test them. I should know tomorrow hopefully what route we will be going. Then, I go November 2nd, for the CAT scan to see what is going on with my back, abdomen and pelvic area. The bone scan showed no bone cancer, but, it showed something was going on. Then, I meet with my rads oncologist on November 9th, to discuss the CAT scan results. So, wait, wait, wait. I had hoped that after the bone scan, mammo and ultrasound that I would be done for awhile. So, I can still use some prayers too. But, mine are going to you and baby Casey! I will be fine!

Love, Jeanne ♥

Seems like this is never ending, Jeanne. I have you in my thoughts, and know that the wait is horrible. You wonder if we will ever see a "well" day again, and then something wonderful happens, and you thank your lucky stars that you are here to see it. Go figure! I will check in on you some time after my surgery to see how you are progressing.....and save some of those prayers for yourself, as I will be sending mine to you. Hugs,

Judy

Jeanne,
My prayers that these are just cysts and can be done with needle biopsy, that the CAT Scan shows nothing serious and that after the 9th of November you will report that all is well and NED is truly in the house for you. Waiting truly sucks. I want instant gratification.

You both are just the sweetest ever! Thanks for your prayers, as, I can use them always. And, I do hope that after Nov. 9th, I can post that NED and I are dancing very close together FOREVER! (and, i will allow others to cut in on the dance and borrow him, no problem!

Judy and Jeanne, I'm sending healing thoughts and prayers to both of you. You are both on my prayer list this evening. I agree when it rains it pours I'd like to call it a hurricane. With a hurricane there is usually a lot of damage, but the calm always comes after the storm. My husband had quadruple bypass in March of this year, right at the time I got a note saying I had an abnormal mammogram. He also lost his job, but there has already been some sunshine in the work department for him. They say God doesnt send us anymore than we can handle, but it would nice if he'd give us a little vacation.:) Hugs and prayers to both you ladies.

Of course, I'll be hoping for the "lesser of two evils" for you.

"Just" a bone spur? Or, "just" a rotator cuff tear? "Just" yet another surgery? Sheesh. We survivors tend to - sometimes, unfortunately, I think - minimize anything less than a recurrence, don't we???

Hopes and prayers your way.

Kind regards, Susan

Judy, I wish you the best for tomorrow's surgery and hope for the least invasive and fastest-recovering kind there is. Rest up and pamper yourself. Hope to hear from you soon.
