My grandkids were here this weekend, and when it was time for them to leave my grandaughter Taylor age 10, was crying and she didn't want to leave me. I just kept thinking what will she do when I am gone (I know, but Mark's passing has me thinking). We are very close. I practically raised her and when Mom (my daughter) was finally able to care for her again in her home, she didn't want to go, so I made us up some lyrics to an old song. We sing it all the time we are together, that is... anytime Taylor tells me that she wants to stay with me.

I can make you mine
see that little smile
anytime night or day
all I have to is dreammmmm, dream, dream, dream of you.

But, today, she had us all in tears as they were getting ready to jump in the car and head back to Phoenix. Only I and my daughter knew what I waa really thinking.........

The good news is that they are coming to live here in January. My daughter wants them all to be closer to me.

Just sharing the ache in my heart. I'm sure we will be back to normal soon.

Focus on the love and not the fear. What a wonderful gift, this fabulous bond you have with her. I had the same bond with my grandfather and was so blessed to have him in my life until I was 40. The absolute priceless memories I have of him, I could bath my soul in. No matter how much time you have with her.. No matter near or far.. what you have, she will hold dear for her lifetime.

    Family moving near!! Wow
Raquel, that's such great news about them moving back home near to you. I know you're so excited. We have 3 grandkids (plus 2 new step grandchildren we've never met) spread out in Maryland and Connecticut that we only get to see about once a year. The rest are close by.

I love your little song... I know the song it comes from. Ricky Nelson was a heartthrob! Whooooo... I'm swooning.... :o)

Glad you had a wonderful time with family!
