Hi everyone. My last post was a few days ago, about breaking out in hives from my head down to my legs.I have been in and out of the emergency room and dr. office for two days.I have had iv drip, shot and different meds. The first day was hives that itch horibly and swelled bad.The second day has been a bad rash,my lips and face swelled triple its size.So back to the Dr. again. The Dr. told me today she is sure it is a unusual side effect of the one Chemo drug, and after this settles down we will talk about treatments.I have had 2 treatments.I only had 2 to go of the chemo.I pray I don,t have to start over. The horible itch is finally getting better. And the swelling is going down. Its been pretty hard two days.If any of you have any info please reply to this message.I am trying not to get discouraged, but it is hard.Love and prayers (Pat).

Pat, so sorry that you are having to go through this. My lips & face have swelled so badly in the past that the skin split. It helped to sit at about a 45 degree angle with a cold towel that I had placed in refrigerator. I hope you get some relief soon.

Hugs & prayers sent your way....

I too am sorry that this has happened. I actually got shingles after my first chemo treatment. And of course it was right when I lost my hair-I remember going in to the wig shop and telling the lady that I thought it was a rash-only to find out later from my onc that it was a "textbook case" of shingles!!
I hope that your onc is able to help you with this and that you heal soon so that you can go on with your treatments! Keep us posted!

    The swelling & hives was
The swelling & hives was before bc was diagnosed, so it could not have been from any cancer meds. However, I had such a struggle with allergies before dx that I wonder if my body was fighting the cancer long before I knew I had it. An good question to ask the onc. next time I see him.

(((((((((HUGS)))))))) I had an unexplained bout with hives right after the 4th of July which landed me in the ER~ nothing as bad as yours seems to be sweetie, and I wish you a fast and complete recovery for something so scary , depressing and itchy! I try and remain calm, and continue to be thankful that it is 2009 and we live in a time/place where anithistamines and other meds are an option for us. I shudder to think where we would have turned 80 years ago....YIKES!

Pat .. I am praying for you .. You are so much like
me with regards to side efforts of chemo. Keep the faith, and let your doctor's dictate what options and direction you need to go in regarding the balance of your chemo treatments. Chemo is tuff, however, there are many of us that do not tolerate the drugs very well. Don't give up ... Fight strong!

    Peace and Love,

I hope they can figure what is causing the reaction and you don't have to do more chemo. My thoughts are with you.

Hey Pat. Hope you are feeling better by now, and if not, that you are well on your way to getting this under control. I can just imagine how you must feel. I sure would find out what caused this reaction before I had my next chemo. Surely this won't happen each time. Let us know how you are doing. Hugs.
