I Hate Cancer, BUT

I have had some positive things come from this.

It made me realize that I am stronger than I ever thought I could be
It made me love my children even more
It made me have faith in prayer again
It made me realize what women with breast cancer and all cancers go through. It made me cry when Farrah and Patrick Swayze died, and also when a member of our board died, Young_One. So young, so brave.
It made me appreciate the simple things in life, like eating pizza, drinking a margarita, and all the things I could not eat or do during chemo,
It made me realize that I had no idea what a bad hair day was until I was bald
It brought me friendships that I never would have found otherwise, including everyone I have met on this board and on chat. Have you ever met such wonderful people? I do not think so.
Having cancer took me from a dark place, to a place where there is Hope. I hope that after your treatments are done, you will look back at your journey and find something positive, it will help you through your recovery.

    Meena, beautifully stated.
Meena, beautifully stated. I'm wondering what this new normal is, and I'm thinking, perhaps really living one day at time, and making the most of every moment life has to offer. Does that sound right? I've seen this comment "new normal" frequently mentioned on the boards.

Yes, that is part of the new
Yes, that is part of the new normal, because we are all unsure if the cancer will come back, so you learn to appreciate every day and live with the uncertainty. I love this post, hope everyone reads it.

    Wow Meena
YOu really said it all!! I feel the same way as you do. Somehow all the petty stuff that goes on at work or at home seems really insignificant. Its people who matter, relationships that matter, appreciating life that matters.

    Thanks for reminding me again

    Hugs

I have learned about Patrick Swayze diagnosis when I was waiting for my surgical biopcy in may of 2008.
I was shocked and upset for him because I love his work and movies. One week later, when my pathology report came back positive, I was officially diagnosed with BC. Patrick was a real fighter I could not believe that he is gone.

    Thanks Meena....
You have stated it so well. We really should reflect on the things we take for granted and count our blessings for the new rewards that we have gained due to our BC. I believe there is always a possitive if we look hard enough. Pammy

I do hope that everyone gains something from this experience, this is the toughest think that anyone can go through. It will make you stronger. The effects will linger for a long time.

Thanks, Meena. I have added this to my favorites because when I'm having a particularly bad day, I will go back and reflect on all the good things. This list is perfect! Thank YOU.

    Positive things
Other positive things coming from my cancer diagnosis have been:

The ability to see what is really important ... and what isn't worth worrying about
Seeing who my true friends are
Learning how to be selfish with my time and only do what I feel like, or want to do
Having wonderful doctors and nurses who treat me as though I'm their only patient

But ... the two most important positives are ... like Meena said ...

Meeting all of the wonderful, caring, and supportive on this discussion board ...

    And ...

Realizing that I REALLY am much stronger than I ever thought I could be.

    hugs,

Well put into words .. that sometime escape us
Chemo Chicks ... currently down, and suffering from chemo side efforts - when the end of treatment is weeks - away. Seeming like a life time down the road.
