Just wondering...I had a masectomy with 24 lymph nodes removed 1 1/2 weeks ago, I was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer so I am healing well from that. I have an appt on the 13th to see Oncologist and Radiologist to figure out step 2..
But lately, like the last 5 days, my throat has been VERY dry...Water does not seem to help, nor does cough drops...I lay in bed and cough and have to get up several times to get water with not much help...Any suggestions? I was planning on calling on Monday but today is Saturday and was sondering if anyone else had this feeling?

Could it still be irritated from surgery?
The only thing I can think of is that they put all sorts of tubes down our throats during surgery. My throat was irritated for several days after surgery. Also, certain medications can dry us out. Are you on pain meds? Sometimes they can dehydrate. If you are, go on the web and check out the side effects.

Wish I could be of more help.

    Sore Throat
I don,t know what caused it ,but after surgery I couldn,t talk for several days.I think they scraped my throat with the tubes they put down my throat.but I did have a reaction to the pain meds, also.I used cloraseptic spray and it went away after a few days.but I would check with my dr.first.I have found out their are no silly questions on this sight.Everyone is so nice and ubderstanding. They either are their or been their,Good luck.God Bless you.(Pat).

    No question on here is
No question on here is silly, so, don't say that. And, I don't know what would be causing your problem, but, I am sure that your doctor can help you. I hope you give him a call and let us know. Hope you are doing better.

    Not silly at all
    Tracy,

I'm not sure what it could be, but irritation as a result of those tubes may be the culprit. What did your oncologist say?
