Hello,

      I am new to this site.  I am a 3 time breast cancer survivor and am currently being treated for Ovarian Cancer.  My CA-125 post surgery was 10 and now my CA-125 is an 8.  I have 1 more treatment.  I was a stage 2B.  I would like to hear from anyone else out there that has been in the same situation as me.  I am currently waiting for my genetic testing to come back.

Your ca 125 is nice and low, excellent!


I am BRCA 2 positive, had stage 3 ovca, still very much at risk for breast cancer. My mom is a breast cancer survivor, and maternal grandmother died of ovca, so it is definitely in my family. I have a breast MRI once a year and an MRI once a year, alternating every six months. I considered having a prophylactic mastectomy but decided against it.


Anyway, you have come to the right place, this is a great support site.

Hello,

      and thank-you so much for talking to me.  I need people to talk to and you seem so nice.  Everybody seems so nice.  My grandmother has had 5 non-invasive breast cancers and she is 87 years old.  Still has her breasts.  My mother died from ovarian cancer, but she refused to have surgery.  We know you can not do that.  I am sure I am in what is called a "BRCA Gene Cluster".  Do you think because my post surgery CA-125 was a 10, that I might do okay?  I can not find many people that were a stage 2.  Thank-You and hope to here from you soon.

How wonderful your counts are low and that your ovarian cancer was found out 2B. I am BRACA 2 positive, stage 3C. 


Mother died of breast cancer at 62 years old. No plans of having breasts removed.


Will be proactive with mammograms alternating with breast MRI every 6 months.

        Thank-you for your posting.  It is so nice to have other people, like me, to talk to.  You guys are real warriors.  I feel like a big cry baby sometimes.  I try to be strong, but after 4 different cancer hits, I am just tired.  The only reason I could still be alive is god.  I hope we can talk often.  Thank-You.

BRCA2 Positive Also
			
Hi Paula

I had stage IIb ovarian cancer and am also BRCA2 positive.  I am a nine year survivor.  I just recently (March) had a prophylactic mastectomy after counseling with a genetic specialist, discussions with my family and much prayer.  I finish my reconstruction in 2 weeks.  I was forty when I was diagnosed with OVCA.  My mother also had OVCA and my father had pancreatic cancer.  Not sure which side of the family that my mutation came from.  It sounds like you are doing well!  Your numbers are certainly good.  You were also diagnosed at a good stage!  So much better if it can be caught early.  Good luck to you!

Hi Jami,

        Thank-You for your posting.  I was really interested in talking to you, because you are the only other person I could find who was a Stage 2B, like me.  Do you remember what was in your pathology report?  How may chemo treatments did you take?  Can you remember what your CA-125 numbers did pre-surgery and post surgery?  And also what your numbers did during chemo and also your numbers during the last 9 years.  You are really going to be an inspiration to me.  I am sorry to ask for so much information, but you were the only stage 2 that I could locate.  Thank-You for taking the time to read this.  Paula

I don't mind giving you my info.  My pathology showed a poorly differentiated papillary serous adenocarcinoma of the right ovary, grade 3, stage IIb.  My CA125 before surgery was 120 and after surgery 17 and after my first chemo it was 6.  It now fluctuates between 6 and 11.  I did 6 rounds of taxol/carboplatin.  I hope you continue to do well.  What type of chemo are you doing?

Hi Jami,

         Thank-You for answering all of those questions.  Everything about us is exactly the same, except I had a tumor on each ovary.  I am having the same kind of chemo you had for the same amount of time.  All I had was a tumor on each ovary.  My nodes were clean, my ascites was clean, and my washing was clean.  There seems to be a huge difference between if you are staged a 1 and 2 or a 3 and 4.  I was hoping to buy a couple of more years, but mayby I will be like you and get alot of years or a lifetime.  We need to find other people who were a stage 2 and see how there are doing.  I just like to do alot of research.  Thank-You, Paula
