Surgery is a go so far....

Had my pre-op for next weeks surgery... EKG, chest x-ray, bloodwork, physical. Here is something I totally did not expect. My GYN said STOP the Tamoxifen as of today! Huh? I just got use to it!!! She said too high a risk having surgery while taking it due to the blood clotting factor. I am to stay off of it for two weeks afterwards too. I guess this will be protocol for any future surgery. She also said I have a 5-10% chance that they will find ovarian cancer. Hoping it will just be cyst! If I do end up with ovarian cancer, then I will need additional surgery out of state to remove lymph nodes. So the story continues....sigh. So for 1 week, my body gets to go back to normal, then BAM!....instant menopause again. I didn't like going through it the first time, so I am definitly not looking forward to it again! This is one time I wish I wasn't getting seconds. Now, ice-cream....that's a different story. Pammy

    Waiting is the hard part.
Waiting is the hard part. It was good news to hear that the chances of ovarian cancer are so slim and I am sorry to hear about the Tamoxifen. Cancer sure is a learn-as-you-go disease. It sounds like you are being taken good care of. Definitely, you need to have some fun things on your to-do list this week. xoxoxox Lynn

    Sheesh! As
Sheesh! As Roseann-Roseanna-danna always said, "It's Always Something".....

Here's hoping of course ,that ALL good things come to you, that things go smoothly that you pass all tests with flying colors, and that the cyst they are going to find is easily dealt with.

Sincerest best wishes to you, Pammy...
Though so sorry you have to face any of this - as if the BC wasn't enough, gosh darn it! - I'll be hoping all goes really, REALLY well for you. Successful surgery, benign cyst, no complications, and speedy recovery.

    Kind regards, Susan

    Good luck
I am crossing my fingers that all will go well and no other cancer will be found. Think of it this way -- you have a 90-95% chance that it will NOT be ovarian cancer. Sorry you are going through so much right now. One step at a time. This will be over. Let us know.

Pammy, I hope you have not additional cancer found and I will certainly be praying for you! I know each and every time I go in for a surgery I ask the surgeon to do a cursery look for anything that might be cancer :-). They always grin and say they will look in the area they are working on, in other words they humor me. Never have they found additional cancer well working on me so I am hoping the same will be for you. Thinking of you and will be looking for results to be posted after your surgery.

    Hugs,

I pray that your surgery goes well. 5-10% chance is very small so I'm sure you will do OK. Lots of Hugs and Prayers, Diane

Wishing the Best for You, Pammy
Pammy, you are such a trooper. I have faith that you will be just fine. Like Mimi pointed out, there's a 90 to 95% chance that it is a benign cyst. I will be thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers.

    Thanks everyone!
I always let out that heavy sigh of relief whenever I read your responses and think "yep", those are my girls! Sticking right by my side. I had to laugh when the Doc looked at my hubby and said "try to keep her calm till Tuesday". He asked "do you have a spare laptop?". He knew there wasn't much chance of him completing the task, but coming here would help! Gotta love him. I just hope he holds up!! Pammy

    here's to you Pammy
and hoping you will come through this NED and feeling better.
It sucks to have to get used to the meds, then have them taken away. I was off the Arimidex for two weeks after surgery, and the side effects came back stronger than ever when I went back on them, but, we do what we do because we do. And you need to make sure you have no bad side effects from taking the drugs, so...
    Good luck with it all

In 2002 I had an ovarian cyst. When they ran all the tests in 2003 (when I was diagnosed with breast cancer) I asked the onc if it was still there and he said the results didn't mention it. I think cysts are common. They come and go between periods. Here's hoping that all you have is a cyst and you get lots of ice cream for being a good girl.

    Hey Pammy!
I'm okay, just really tired, I posted a new thread that says "11 down and I'm tired" so I won't repeat it here but I can tell you just how tired I am (I say shaking my cigar in a groucho mrks kinda way lol)

The other day I got up at 6:30, I'm usually get up at 6:00, I ran through the house yelling everybody get up we're late!!!!!!!!!!!

I hopped in the shower, like I usually do and about 5 minutes into my shower, I realized............................It was Sunday!!!!!!!!!

I guess I'm not only tired but I'm losing my mind, I got out of the shower (laughing at my self) and told the kids it was a false alarm, and to go back to bed.

All my six year old could say on his weay back to sleep was "you must be losing your mind mom"

So other than that I'm okay...... I've been thinking of you and every one here, so please know your in my prayers. I just want to hear that all goes well with your next surgury okay, no if's and's or but's okay. I just won't have it :), besides I'm just to tired okay?

    Take Care Pammy,
