Ok... I don't know what happened.... maybe you'll can explain this one to me. Don't remember waking up today..none of it....well, bits and pieces.. not much of anything that made much sense til about 9pm after ambulance had already came to my house cause family called and hospital had run all kinds of tests. Have had extreme diahrrhea for a few days. Last time I had chemo they even gave me a shot for diahrrea that I have to get every 30 days. Today I was very lethargic... hands shaking...BP terrible... non-responant. All CT, MRI, X-Ray..fine..... primary doc cleared me..... will see onc. 2moro and neurologist as well. Do you think this is chemo related? I have been getting shots to keep WBC up.... don't have stats back on that yet. What is REALLY...REALLY bumming me out is 2moro is chemo day...... I don't want the onc. to tell me we need to postpone it... I have come too far and I have cried all nite. It's a little after 5am and they are pumping me full of fluids....Get back with u when I can

Peace

Jennie

    Jennie- sounds like
Jennie- sounds like dehydration to me! And yes it is chemo related. My last hospitalization was for the exact same thing, I kept fainting, like 8 times, then called for the paramedics. I was in the hospital for 5-7 days- could hardly keep myself upright for weeks due to the dizziness. I know you feel like this is a setback- but give your body some time to come back from this.

    Oh Wow.....
...I hope you feel better soon! it sounds like it could be an infection also, do you have a fever? this definitely could be the chemo as well, it can make you that sick as well, I hope you find out what it is soon, and recover from whatever it is, please keep us updated on what it is! We'll be thinking of you!

    I Know....
...how scary it seems to get that break, I haven't had one yet, except when I was healing from my surgeries, I know I sure could use one, but would be afraid of the cancer coming back as well, but we don't know that for sure! your body can only handle so much at a time, and even a week probably wouldn't hurt it. I went 4-5 weeks without chemo while healing from my colostomy, and my tumors were still shrinking.

Try not thinking of the worse, and just listen to your body. I'm so sorry to hear about your girlfriend, my aunt died of lung cancer a very long time ago, back in the days when there wasn't much for chemo, plus they caught it too late, she hated going to the doctors, but she was like a second mother to me.

Just rest for now, and try not to worry, your body needs some positive energy in it, try and watch something funny until you actually have reason to worry :) We'll be here for you :)

    Hugsss!

    Jennie........Breathe
Cmon girl, there is nothing that you can do but let your body recoup. Nothings going to happen while it does. Your body has a cumulative dose of chemo that will still be lingering killing cells. It doesn't quit when you leave the infusion room. Give yourself and most importantly your body a little time to regain valuable fluids that you have lost due to diarrhea then start your regimen again. Its not going to hurt anything by giving your body a small break. Breathe and let your body tell your what to do.....You already know that the chemo is helping, let it do its job, and you do yours by taking care of your body allowing it to rest.....we're all right here with ya hun......Clift

    Hi Jennie

I agree with Buzzard - you can't push the body beyond what it will take and the doctors will not administer the chemo until they think you are ready.

Chemo is still flowing in your veins so there is protection there until you can get better.

My onc used to tell me that he could cure Cancer, but not without killing me :)

I had breaks where I could just not do some of the drugs - the body knows what best.

Take it EZ and we're all here for you - a small setback to get your body ready to go.

    Aw, Geez, Jennie,
    I'm so

    Aw, Geez, Jennie,

I'm so sorry to hear of your latest difficulty with the Chemo, but it certainly appears to be Dehydration to me, since I've experienced several episodes of the same symptoms over the years. The Doctors will figure it out for you though.
I'm not as careful about keeping myself properly hydrated as I should be and tend to consume more diuretic (sp) type things like coffee or tea, than I do fresh water or drinks that contain electrolytes. My wife practically forces me to drink glasses of water in order to keep hydrated.
When I was in the hospital doing the Chemo they gave me huge bags of intervenous fluids, literally gallons a day, then when I get home I go back to my old ways.
I've had friends over the years that just couldn't even force themselves to drink and they were constantly in and out of the hospital with dehydration. It's a serious issue, but very treatable and eventually goes away as the Chemo does it's magic and you don't need it anymore.
Hang in there, and keep us posted.

    Jennie-
    I know that panicked

    Jennie-
I know that panicked feeling of putting off the chemo for my husband but everyone is right about it still being in there and working while you're taking a break. This is why planned surgery has to wait at least a month after the last treatment because it's still in there kicking some you-know-what for awhile. I hope you feel better soon.

    Dear Jennie,

Sorry you have had such a rough spell. I wanted to let you know that I had to postpone treatment 3 times during my chemo due to labs. I would just have to wait until I got stronger, usually a week and then start up again. Just takes a little longer. Please let your body recover and know there is still chemo in there fighting.

I will be praying for you. Let us know how you're doing.

    God Bless you

    Hi Jennie
Hey just breathe, thats all you need to do. If doc says take a little break, then take a little break. A few days will build you right back up. Because you know, you don't want this chemo crap, when your butt is already draggin the ground. We have to at least get our tukas in the lawn chair so we get a semi comfortable seat for the ride. This horrific medicine we have taken beats us inside, outside, over, under and thru. This fiendish disease just tries to get you scared and make you run with fear. But if you deny the fear, you're gonna move farther and faster in your treatment. My experience those that linger on the the bad stuff that we all have to deal with in one way or another have a harder time; than if we just accept that some of this crap just sucks. WE HAVE TO WADE THRU THE **** TO GET THRU TO THE GOOD STUFF. My thoughts and prayers are with you, and you still have the power to Make it a Great Day!!! I'm huggin ya!! Goofylady (Cass)

    So Sorry
Jennie I keep up with you on this site and am so sorry to hear that you had to be hospitalized. I agree with Buzzard and the others. Just relax the best you can and take care of yourself. You may have to delay your chemo treatment but it will just be a small delay. Your body needs you to be strong when you take that chemo so rest, relax, and think of all the progress you have made and all the people that are praying for you. We are all hear for you if you need us. This is just a bump in the road to NED. We keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I always ask everyone on Frank's caringbridege site to pray for you and the others on this site. Hang on.
    Hugs,

    1 of 2 things
I finally see what a caregiver has to go thru. My poor husband has been thru the wringer with this episode and boy what a rock. Onc says I could have infection in feces or reaction to Avastin. No additional tumors or bleeding on brain but something else the Avastin does to give you stroke like sypmptons..... will know 2moro..... anyone hear of this with brain??? ... or feces?? Let me know

    hi jennie,
i'm sorry for what you're going through. I understand how you feel about postponing chemo. BUT, I did have to cancel a few times, sometimes your body needs time off. Even is it's only a week or so. I did feel SOOO much stronger when I went back to treatment after a few weeks off. Maybe you're body just does need some time to get stronger!!! Hang in there! Keep us posted!

    Long Day
    Jennie,
I haven't heard of either reaction. I hope they are able to narrow it down to one thing or the other so that you can begin to look at options. I've been through the chemo wringer twice so far and like most others here have had to miss treatments each time due to bloodwork. I remember being told once that missing a treatment or two or lowering the dose every now and then didn't necessarily reduce the effectiveness. Each time it came out OK for me. I actually took the cancelled doses as opportunities for spontaneous fun!

I hope this day brings some resolution and hope.
