Had a CT Thursday, followed by a PET Friday, The ONC said "we see somthing at the same spot on your live were thr resection was done two months ago, could you get a PET on Friday" so off to scan I went. The problem is all weekend without results. I would expect the surgical scarring where they wedge resected my liver would show up as grannulating tissue or scar tissue or a mix but the wait is wrecked my brain.

Just hoping that whatever it is it doesn't like Glucose. Feel good, rough week of chemo, the Oxiliplatin knocked me flat, just wanted to sleep, sleep, sleep. The combination of no energy and the rush to complete two scans this week sent me to bed everytime I returned home.

    Sorry
    Hi Mike,

Sorry you have to wait for the results. I had all my labs and CT scan 6 days ago for Oncology appt tomorrow. It's hard not to think about. I will pray for you. Just wanted to let you know that I had granulation tissue at the resection site and they biopsied it during a colonoscopy and it came back clear. Hope thats a little encoragement for you.

Please let us know how things are going.

Blessings to you and your family,

    Me too
    Hi Mike

I also had a PET/CT that showed a 1 cm lit spot on the liver where the resection was too. All the surgeons etc looked at it at the tumor board a few days later and there is consensus that it's most probably where they put the surgical clamps during the resection. It's also not that hot 4.6 against a 3.8 background. As suggested I will have another PET/CT in 3 months. Most recently my medical onc here said that there was lit spot on my sacrum and that info was NOT noted in the PET/CT report. I don't think she thought it was anything serious because she mentioned another fellow for whom the same thing shows up now even 4 years later and it's nothing and we were talking about relative hot in lit places. However, these kinds of info pieces that are just dropped like that by care providers or others are like a nuclear bomb being dropped for a cancer patient. So I'll pass along what my other medical oncologist says which is to not get too worked up unless there is a trend because these scans are meant to find things and when they find things they then need to go looking and it may or may NOT be anything.

    Enjoy your Sunday!

    Fatigue
    Hi Mike,

I forgot to address the fatigue. I also had it and feel like I slept for about 6 months. I still tried to do things with my family etc. I would just fall asleep wherever I was. It beat missing out on life. Just do what you can and rest as much as possible. My oncologist just kept assuring me that I needed to rest. That was what my body needed. I felt so guilty, I'm a very active person - not on chemo ha.Don;t beat yourself up - do what your body tells you.

    Hi Mike
    Hi Mike,
I am hoping for you that it is surgical scar tissue that they are seeing. I know how very hard it is to wait for results. **** had a CAT on Tuesday and they saw an enlarged lymph node and some liquid around his heart. He has an echo on Tues. and PET on Wed. Waiting, waiting, waiting. He has decided that the best thing for him during this time is to get out with our family and do things. He hates just sitting around thinking of possibilities.

I hope you are getting rest this weekend that was a very full week for you last week.

Thinking of you and your family. Saying a prayer.

    Aloha,
    Kathleen

    Hey MikeThat's what the Oxy
    Hey Mike

That's what the Oxy does alright - but that is OK...best thing any of us can do is rest, rest, and more rest...it's always that week during the infusions.

I just never fought it - when I felt like I had to lay down, I just did for an hour or 2 - stay up a couple of hours - and lay back down again.

Scans are always tough especially on Fridays.

You'll know next week and I'm hoping that it is nothing serious.

Got you still in my prayers - hey it's football season, yippee!

Gonna' go watch the Cowboys vs Bucs

    Take care, Mike

    Waiting till noon today
Friday scans stink, he had to wait for it to be delivered and wanted to discuss it with the surgeon who has done my liver resection first.

    Fridays
    Hi Mike,

I'm sorry you're having to do the waiting game over the weekend. The PET/CT schedulers just called me yesterday to set up my next one- it's going to be a week from this Friday. So, I too, will have to wait over the weekend this time & I never normally wait more than a day. Such is life sometimes- it stinks!

I hope and pray your results will be better than what you're worrying about.

    Take care,
    Lisa

    Not the best news
The Oncologist told me the PET showed uptake at the same sot as my recent Liver resection and also a question of whether there is a lymph node showing uptake near the Pancreas. He wants to see about a needle biopsy ASAP and surgical consult to determine if this is resectable. I know I am tough enough to take this on but to quote Phillieg, " I have been pricked more than Paris Hilton", It's rough out here on this battlefield of life. Thanks for all the outpouring of support, I came to you guys only second to my wife.

I think I'll take her to lunch and try to be normal for a little while.
