Hi All,

Thank you for your input on how to tell a kid about cancer. I read your stories and was touched. My husband and I sat down with our daughter over the weekend and broke the news to her. I borrowed here and there from your stories and wove one of my own. My daughter gave me a hug and then we three, including pet dog Lady, went out for some ice cream.

I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Now I can carry on with the business of treatment and appointments without feeling like I am hiding something from my daughter. What a relief!

Today, my daughter and I went wig shopping. I thought this would be a good way of involving her in the process.

Thank you for your kindness and your support. My best to all.

Bella Luna

Glad to hear that things went well with your daughter. It's so good that you included her when you went wig shopping. Sometime we think we are protecting them, when it's just better to be honest with them. My grandson is 8 yrs. old and I let him help when I had my head shaved. That way he wasn't so scared when he saw me with no hair. Good luck to you! Hugs, Diane

So glad all work out well with telling your daughter. You will be much better off not having to sneak around and she will not have to wonder if you are hiding "something". Kudos on confronting the subject. Pammy

    HI Bella Luna
I am so glad you were honest with your daughter. Kids find a way to figure things out and I think involving her in the process will help and even bring you closer.

    Hang in there

It was a delight to read your post! I love how you wove tidbits from us into your own story, and made it a special time for all of you. I am so glad that the weight was lifted off of your shoulders; it frees you up to take care of other important business! Good for you!

I have to agree with Claudia! It was so uplifting to read your post and know that you and your daughter are ok now. This is so hard to explain to kids and to get them to understand and not be afraid. But, you did it!
