WAITING FOR TEST RESULTS

hi everyone.I AM WAITING FOR TEST RESULTS TO TELL WHAT TREATMENTS I WILL BE GETTING.IF I DON,T HAVE TO HAVE CHEMO THEN I WILL HAVE RADIATION WITH A PILL I TAKE FOR 5YRS.CAN ANYONE TELL ME ABOUT THIS PILL.IS THEIR MORE THEN ONE KIND?IS IT EXSPENSIVE?THE PET SCAN WAS CLEAR,THE LYNPH NODS WERE CLEAR.THE LUNSETOMY WAS CANCER.THEY REMOVED MORE TISSUE THE SECOND SURGERY AND IT WAS CLEAR.I WONDER WHY THEY STILL WANT ME TO HAVE RADIATION?I KNOW I NEED TO ASK MY DR. THESE QUESTIONS.BUT I THOUGHT SOMEONE MIGHT HAVE SOME IDEALS.THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU.LOVE AND PRAYERS.

    The oncologist has you have
    The oncologist has you have radiation to kill any stray cancer cells that might be left by the surgery. Women have radiation with lumpectomy's and with mastectomy's. Are you ER or PR negative or postive? You take different medicines depending on which you are. And, are you HER2 negative or postive? Rads are doable. Don't worry about them. Good luck!

    That is great you had clear
    That is great you had clear nodes with the lumpectomy and don't have to have chemo. I had a lumpectomy and radiation. I just got a little pink, never burnt from them.

    Chemo/RADS
    I had a lumpectomy in May, clean, clear margins, 2.2 cm tumor removed, NO lymph node involvement......invasive ductual carcinoma.......I just finished my chemo 9 days ago....YEAH....it was no day at the beach, but for me it wasn't horrible, either......I had plenty of anti nausea medications and never had the first bit of nausesa, never! That's not to say there aren't plenty of other side effects of chemo, though.....the week after each of my infusions was what I called my "down week"......tired, no taste buds,I may as well been eating a bowl of ALPO, because nothing had any taste for about a week..... bone pain and muscle aches, etc....but I can handle anything as long as there is no nausea or vomiting.... I will start 7 weeks of radiation sometime in September.....For me, I am glad I am having both, chemo and radiation......anything to lessen the chances of it coming back. Both, chemo and radiation is to kill any stray cancer cells that may have escaped....those cells are sneaky little buggers! I do not have to take any "pills" Tamoxifan, etc.

    What ever you have to have, I promise you, you can do it! Somehow we are able to reach deep inside ourselves and find strength we never knew we had, and you will too! I wish you the best and will "storm the gates of heaven" with prayers for you!

    I hope you don't have to do
    I hope you don't have to do chemo, but if you do, you can get thru it. Let us know what your treatment plan is.

    I am DCIS - invasive cancer. HER2, no radiation, howeve I will be having chemo. 10.0 x 7.0 x 3.0 lump removed. L/nodes clear .. will be determined by another surgery after chemo is finished.

    Also, there are several agencies that help with co-pays and treatment, pills etc. I think page 1, 3 and 7 ..

    Hi Nancy Yes, I do believe that we are stronger, Then we think
    To Chemo/Rads

    Yes be sure to rest, when you need, don't worry in a short time you will even be able
    to taste, and eat all you (think) you need. I had, had my share of cancer since "THE"
    surgery in 1996 three days before the surgery I was able to walk down the divider at
    Zellerbach Hall, Theather at CAL and receive my Certificate in International Trade.
    Since the crazy Dr. Had giving me a 6 month "life" sentence. It was totally crazy but I am still here, taking classes for the "fun of it" And guess what? Now I don't care about
    taste in the food, I am just H A P P Y to have had the extended chance at life. And please Write when ever you feel like it. But make sure to rest....(@ j @)
