diagnosis method of H Pylori?

I was wondering if any of you have been diagnosed with H Pylori, or acid reflux disease. What method was used for the diagnosis, a blood test or a breathing test?

    I have been diagnosed with acid reflux and actually esophagus spasms. The acid reflux has been since before diagnosis and it was from the burning in my throat and ears and the pain. When I think I am better and try to go off the meds for it it gets bad again so we know that is what it is. Then a couple years ago I started having really bad back pains and chest, they thought it was my heart and ran all kinds of test with the final conclusion it was esophagus spasms and put me on a stronger med for acid reflux and to take it twice a day. It got better .. I think it was from the chemo drugs I was on and since have gone back to only one a day.

    In our lab, we use a blood antibody test but there are a multitude of tests to diagnose this condition. A breathing test might be preferable , since you don't have to endure yet another needle stick. Hope you're enjoying your respite from chemo!

    I am also hoping there are no major typos in this message - I just got home from work and am winding down before I go to bed.

    Thanks for your replies,
    This disease is something new to me, and I appreciate any information I can get from ladies who are actually dealing with it, or have information about it.

    I will ask my internist about he breathing test when he calls with the blood test results. If it was negative, we should do the breathing test, if positive I guess we'll discuss the antibiotics I'll need to knock it out.

    Kgirl, do you work in a medical facility?

    And Bonnie, I also never had symptoms before chemo. What Rx drug are you taking?

    Jane,

    I am a medical lab tech in a hospital. I have yet to work on any of my own blood work or transfusions - that would be weird to say the least. It is a rewarding career and every day is different. You are constantly learning something new.

    My lab has been so supportive of me. I was out 6 months and my manager offered me a part-time job with benefits when I was ready to return. It has allowed me to keep my insurance and still keep my chemo schedule.
