RE started this and I thought it might be kind of fun-what does everyone do when you feel like you've given all you can and you need a little "me"time?
I get on this board,read a good book,go for a walk,etc,etc...

    Hi Patty!
I usually do my glass on my "me" time, which I love doing and miss it when I can't. Probably have to heal a bit before I can start on my "fall" scene. But other than that, I love to read books, play in my yard (yes I know, not now), and listen to music. Whatever makes you feel good and keeps you healthy!

    ONE MORE THING
After I was done with my hair, bath, and toe painting I got my IPOD attached it to my stereo and turned the volume up. I played country gospel, a mix of Alan Jackson, Trace Atkins, and Alison Krauss and I sang my heart out!!! It is a wonderful release for me and since my windows are closed my neighbors don't mind. :-) We all need to have a little me time.

    Hugs,

    For me
Since I'm by myself anyway I pretty much get to do what ever I want anytime (gets boring)... BUT what I love doing is getting in my hot tub with an adult beverage at night while looking up at the stars (getting in there while it's snowing is also fun!!!), going shopping with my Daughter and BFF, and I especially LOVE Listening to the sound of my Daughters voice as she reads to me (I close my eyes and just lay there all lost in the story)...

Me time??? What is that... I
Me time??? What is that... I have some recollection of years past, of carefree walks, laying in the yard with a good book... soaking in a long hot bubble bath... picnics in the park... lounging on the couch with hubby watching a good movie.... fast forward to current time... carefree walk includes being pulled by my rambunctious boarder collie who really needs to go to behavior school... niece riding in circles around us... laying in the yard w/a good book, daughter decides that is when she wants to talk and contimplate life... picnics... who has time to prepare... lounging on the couch and the intire crew.. (daughter, her boyfiend... their baby... Liz (my niece) and Daniel (our youngest) all want to watch too... which wouldn't be so bad except know one knows how to be quiet and actually watch the movie... and a bubble bath... well I gave that up years ago... everytime I try, I get in and within 5 minutes someone is knocking at the door... Mom... I need.. mom .. .can I go... aunt Tammy can you.. you get the picture...

My sisters in WA have been on me a long time to figure out a way for me to get my "me" time in... well I'm still working on it...for now... it's when I can sit in my room on my bed and catch up with all of you!

    LOL

Oh, I love all those also,
Oh, I love all those also, especially TCM. I love the old movies. Yesterday hubby and I watched The Heiress and some other Miriam Hopkins movies. We were taking a break from this house stuff. It was good. I love wicked and wonderful.

It is funny how our me time
It is funny how our me time does change. But what that shows me is that our normal is always changing, evolving, so maybe we can see that the changes from our cancer diagnosis are just that changes that life brings. I used to lay in the sun, read a book, swim in our above ground pool (long gone), take my daughter to tap, jazz, ballet, piano, bassoon, saxophone, harp lessons and to rehearsals for plays that she was in. I was a chaffeur. When she was younger, she said if she ever got rich she would bring me a limo and hire me a driver so I would have someone to drive me everywhere and once when she was accepting a Shelley award (Contra Costa County's Tony) was best actress in a musical she thanked me and her dad and said that mom was my driving force and she winked at me. I miss those days.
One thing a friend and I did when our kids were all little. We each had one day a week where we had a me day while they were in school. I was her contact person and she was mine. We didn't answer phones or doors and we let everyone know that was our day. I think mine was Tuesday and her's was Thursday. She would do geneology all day, uninterupted and I would spend that day with my mom just she and I hanging out. We loved to play word games or we would swim. It was heaven. At first we felt guilty having a day just for us but we saw that we were better moms and wives because we had this time for us. Stay at homes moms and I am sure working moms often become known as so and so's mom or so and so's spouse and you can lose your sense of self even when you love those roles more than anything. And even now it is so good to have time just for you. Some might call it selfish I think of it as self-preservation. Everyone, kids and grownups, need time that is just theirs.
So I think it was Claudia said she was contacting Obama to arrange National Me Day. It should start monthly I think.

See you do have me time.
See you do have me time. Even when we are pretty much alone, there are all the demands of life around us and sometimes we are so wrapped up in them that we don't pamper or indulge ourselves. At first, I didn't read the hot tub, just tub and thought how cool to take a bath and see the stars or snow. Thought you have a great skylight. What a daft sod I truly am.
And Calleen, you are such a pretty lady with a lovely smile.
