The Reading Room

With every ounce of my being, I believe that knowledge is power. I especially believe that to be true in the fight against cancer.

I certainly remember coming home on the night my husband was diagnosed and spending the entire night researching his disease. On that first frightening night, although I regret that I didn't find the comfort and knowledge this site can convey, I finally fell asleep knowing that my husband had a chance based upon the data I could access. I have spent many many nights since researching this disease. I am always grateful and respectful of the information others who are in this fight can contribute to ease my mind and point my family toward healing treatments.

I am grateful to people like Phillieg who have posted research article links on this board. His recent post of an article about clinical trials and the reluctance of doctors and cancer patients to participate in those trials deepened my understanding of the fight we face.

I've titled this post "The Reading Room" in the hope that we can have a common title we use on this board to alert each other to reputable articles about cancer in general and colon cancer specifically. How many times have we seen people who are new to this fight log in here and ask for reliable information? Wouldn't it be useful to tell them to type in "The Reading Room" and read the research we've shared and discussed?
