I would love to hear from anyone about the drug Femara. I had a bilateral mastectomy with tram flap reconstruction 7 weeks ago. My oncologist wants me to take Femara but I'm not so sure because of the side effects. My tumor was .7 so it was very small and I had areas of calcification cocerns in the other. I feel like I made a good but tough decision to do what I did and I don't want to do any more. My regular doctor said it is my choice and will support me either way. My husband wants me to take the drug but I don't think I want to. I'd love some advice!

    Femara
You have not said why you don't want to take Femara so it's difficult to know how to address your question. I have been taking it for over 5 years and given that I was Stg.IIIb I credit Femara with being alive. I have joint pain, BUT I'm still here with no recurrence. That seems like a wonderful trade off to me. I wish you well in your decison making. Give it some time, you can always decide later.

Why don't you want to take Femara? I don't know that much about it myself.

    Femara
Thanks for the replies. I don't want to take Femara because of the side effects. I know about joint pain and bone loss and that doesn't scare me but when I read on-line about Femara it listed scarey things like strokes, heart related events. I am pretty healthy except for rheumatiod arthritis and I take methotrexate for that which is a powereful drug. I guess I don't want to add another med.
