Hi all, Just been diagnosed, and am very alone & afraid. Hubby is saddened and angry. Two teens are in denial and scared. I just finished my early morning pity party (only time I am alone)and feel better. I have been thru all the testing and pray I am able to muster up the strength to accept and join the fight. Scheduled August 7th - scope and biopsy and God knows what else, as they cannot find the source. I commend all of you for being so strong and appreciate the info you posted because now I do not feel so alone. GBU

Patty ann,,,i too was scared,,,had many a days n night where i cryed in my room by myself,,,IM a single dad and some things that got me through this was thinking of my sons,,,how they still need me on this earth to support and love them.. I started my treatement last october...and for 7 weeks everyday i had radiation n chemo treatements...it seems like it last forever..but you have to put you mind in a differnt place...think how fast time goes by,,,this will only be a blimp in your life...when i seen children with cancer i felt so sad for them,,thought how lucky i was not to have to go through this as a child..everyone will tell you a positive attitude goes a long way...thats so true..very hard to keep a positive attitude all the time...but try...also know you can feel bad/sad for yourself too....i wish you all the best...

Its a scary thing to be hear that dang phrase "Its Cancer".... and as time flies by you will be where I am, reading posts of newly diagnosed people saying "I remember when I felt just like she does". Fear of the unknown is an awful feeling. The "what if's" and "why me" are killer thoughts.

Educate yourself on your type of cancer, learn all you can and its treatment options. Prepare a list of questions to ask you doctor, and do not be afraid to ask. Take someone with you so they can listen and ask questions as well. You will be amazed and what you will "not" hear from what I like to call, brain overload. You have to take control of your treatment and your life. Dont let cancer take control of you. I truly feel, once you accept it, you feel a load lifted from your spirit.

Like others have said, positive attitude is the key to get through this. Everyone has week moments, allow yourself those times, get it out and pick yourself back up. Laugh often, it truly is the best medicine :)

You are in my thoughts and prayers!

I have educated myself, but I have no support system as I am taking care of m-i-l and f-i-l. and my Mom just had a stroke. I sometimes feel maybe it is ,'better to burn. than it is to rust' (Neil Young)Confused right now, just trying to stay stable. Appreciate your blog, Yes - it is the unknown that is scary- guess I will find out soon! Yikes!

Hi

As I started this keep the faith for it, will get you through it all. I was diagnosed Oct. 2007, last treatment, May 2,2009 .Keeping the faith got me though it all along with my family and friends. My husband was the same as yours; mad, sad, and angry with many mixed emotions. However, in the end he was my biggest supporter; keep your family close in all that is going on, your kids as well, they will come around. My daughter was the same way in denial, but again my hubby and kids are the best they kept me up when I was down. As for your pity parties there's nothing wrong with them, we all need to let it out and it's good for the soul! You will find all the strength, us cancers survives have!! Just remember to keep the faith.
take care you are in my prayers

I have the faith but I have trouble dealing with all the family's feelings. Just making each day a happy time for the kids, w/o giving out my fears and thoughts. Trying to stay positive, but glad I found you and this forum to have some support. I appreciate your comments! ty mtcarrieann, be well.

Hi

Yes keep the faith because it will get you through it all!!Yes it is hard to keep each day happy for your kids because you are scared, mad, angry and your thoughts run away, but we are moms and God gave us the strength and the love to bring it all together. By staying positive will also get you through it and give you the strength you never knew you had. Most important keep your family and friends close because they will also give you strength and love you need.
just remember we are here for you to help you get through it all.
take care
