Doctor Just called..... Good and Bad News....

Got the call tonight from my doctor with my path report, She said,"I have good news, and bad news".. Margins are clean, lymph nodes positive..On top one minute, and at the bottom another... It does suck...Anyway, back to surgery next Tuesday for a complete lymph node dissection. I think my attitude is getting the cancer...

Maybe better tomorrow

    Oh Angel,
    It is a mixed bag isn't it? On one point things are good, and on the other things aren't so great. I don't know much about lymph node dissection since I have yet to have surgery ( due to a number of factors) but I have been on chemo since March and I can tell you that although it isn't pleasant it is something you can do. I am the biggest chicken in the world and I adapted to it o.k.. I'm hoping for the best for you on your next surgery. Please try to keep positive, I know it is hard but there are many members here who can and will help you. Love surf

    Don't fret too much~ your good news was really good~ and the bad? Well, that has been the news many of us have had, myself included. It too is do-able~ you'l be fine!!!

    I realize it was not all good news, however I agree with Claudia that your margins being clean is really great news indeed! Please keep us updated on how you are d0ing as we care a great deal!

    Sorry to hear the bad news had to spoil the good. But you started out fighting this no matter what you had to do, so you will be fine. Hang in there, you will make it through the disection. I'll be praying for you. :) Pammy

    I am happy for your good news and so sorry for your bad. Your right it does suck.I also had 6 pos. lymph nodes out of 27 taken, as Claudia says it is doable. I wish you all the best next Tuesday. Keep us posted. You will be in my prayers,

    The good news clean margines is great. Nodes pos, I know how you feel, I had so hoped for my nodes to be neg, but I also had 2 pos for cancer with clean margines. Sending hugs and prayers your way.

    I'm happy for the clear margins but sorry for the positive nodes. But these ladies on here have faced it head on and so can you!

    Well, I am happy for your clean margins, but, very sorry for the positive lymph nodes. But, you can deal with it and you can get thru it.

    In addition to the infamous emotional roller coaster, we often ride the see-saw...

    Clean margins is actually GREAT news. Cancerous lymph nodes - not so great. Your upcoming second surgery will determine your next steps. I'll be hoping for the best possible outcome on Tuesday. Please keep us posted.

    Just F.Y.I. - I had 7 of 15 nodes test positive (4 of 7 from breast, 3 of 8 from armpit) = about 1/2 of 'em. Yesterday was 6 years since diagnosis, and my med onc continues to tell me I'm doing very well.

    Clean margins are great! Lymph nodes dirty not so great. So sorry for that part of it.

    I am happy to hear about your margins but sorry to hear about your nodes. I had 3 out of 9 nodes test positive. The surgeon took them all because he could not tell which nodes were cancerous or not. The dye and the geiger counter did not pinpoint them. I survived my node removal and you will too if it comes to that. Hang in there. Let's hope for the best.
