I'm sorry to ask yet another question...

So the complex cyst on my right ovary (7 cm & growing) has not given me much trouble. Until now. From before they found it to last friday (several months) I haven't had a lot of pain. A twinge now and then, pain during intercouse, but nothing consisitent. That was part of what had me worried. I had always had pain with cysts (even small ones) before. It had gotten to the point last week where it was bothering me if my bladder got full and I just figured it was because it created pressure. Friday when I saw my gyno for a pre-op appointment she did a pelvic exam. It was excrutiating. And I was in pain for the rest of the day. Saturday it was still bothering me but not to badly. Yesterday it started hurting again and even woke me up twice in the night. I also had some trouble with my bowels. I'm about to call her office, though I doubt they can do anything. But my question is this...did anyone else have pain with their masses?

Thanks,
momspot

    Hi,
Don't ever apologize for coming to the forum for help, or advice. We're here to help each other and I'm sure there will be times that you'll have information for us.

Maybe you're constipated, many of us take Miralax which is an excellent stool softener, you just mix it into water or juice and it's flavorless.

I understand about the specialist being a ride away for you, but keep in mind, this is your life you're dealing with. My GYN/ONC surgeon, and the hospital were about an hour and a half from our home, but he came with excellent references so it never was a concern for us.

In addition, your GYN said that if cancer was found, she'd refer you to a GYN/ONC surgeon.
I still don't get her not doing a complete hysterectomy, she'll have you open and so many ladies have had complete hyst. without a bleeding problem. If that's her concern, she shouldn't feel comfortable doing any surgery.

I'm sorry, but maybe finances are involved in her not wanting to send you out with a referral.
How does you husband feel about the whole situation?

You're probably getting to hate me, and wish I'd put a sock in it, but I'm just worried that you should get the best care you deserve.

    YES
Yes, I had pain with my mass which was on my ovaries (actually both), but the right side is what really hurt me. I thought it was my appendix and was waiting for my temperature to go up or for it to burst! My pain would wake me at night and seemed worse at night when I was in bed.

I would think that anytime something was growing in our bodies it would be painful. Pressing on other organs, nerves, etc. I really don't remember how long I waited to see my gyn from the time I first started feeling the pain, but I waited until my regular scheduled yearly appointment to see him (maybe 4-6 weeks). By the time I had my first ultra sound and then the 2nd one (and he did move fast), it was 5 months until I had my surgery and by that time I was stage 3c.

No point in me saying wonder if, what is now is.....................but remember ovarian cancer whispers, so listen!

    Hi Libby,
Dopey me, when momspot mentioned trouble with her bowels, and did anyone have pain with their "masses", I thought she was saying that she was having pain moving her bowels.

    My face is red!

    Libby,
    Hi Libby,
I didn't realize that momspot meant the mass she's dealing with, my mind just went to constipation, I thought it was funny the way my mind works, (or doesn't) since chemo brain.

I had tried to put my picture on the forum a couple of times, but my hubby and I just couldn't get it to go through. Now that we have a new Apple mac computer, we should try again. Maybe be can get the cats to sit with me, my kids with the unconditional love. They don't care how mama looks, neither does hubby as long as I'm here with him.

Have a pleasant day tomorrow, I have a CT scan in the AM, here we go again, lets see if the rising CA was an indication of trouble.

    Bad girl Momspot for ....
Apologizing on these boards. Tsk tsk. There is no such thing as 'bugging' with questions here, we all asked them at one point or another and remember we all understand.

I have no diagnosis yet but did have NHL years back and as you probably have read I now have a 'cyst' with a 'node on it',sigh, and it is 1 inch by 1 inch by 1 and a half inches. Yikes. I am having low back pain that started a few months back and I have now ben told there is 'tissue' in my uterus as well. My GP told me that a small cyst like mine, small?, wouldn't hurt but quite a few people who have had them said the opposite, they can cause discomfort. I am having bowel issues now and a pain in my left side that I thought was appendicitis too but it's starting to go now. I have had jabs of pretty extreme pain on my right (cyst is on the right ovary) and none of this is familiar from say a year ago so I am convinced something is connected. Cancer or not I am coming to the conclusion that some cysts can cause discomfort but that's just my observation based on sensing it.

I have always said that if it doesn't hurt that's worse, heard that before about cancer, but I guess it all depends on so many things for every person individually. Hope all goes well with you. Blessings, Bluerose

    Thanks to everyone!
Thank you for your replies! I did phone my doctors office and they ordered pain meds for the pain from the cyst. I only had to take them twice. It seemed like once I got the pain knocked out it stays gone. Provided I don't get too crazy. lol. I also had a kidney infection which explains the back pain and the fatigue. I'm feeling much better now.

Thanks Jane for your response...the bowel trouble was the other way round though! Lol. No constipation here. =]

Bluerose...I have had small very painful cysts before so don't let them tell you they don't usually hurt! They do. I guess that's why this one has me worried, it didn't really hurt til they started messing with it. Hopefully they haven't aggravated things. I saw my GP also since I posted and with the bloodwork he ran (no it was not a CA125 just normal stuff) and the ct scan showing nothing other then the 7cm complex cyst & nodule on the right ovary and the 1.5 cm fluid filled cyst on the left. And they tissure in the uterus. They are both very optomistic that it is not cancer. I don't know that I'm quite that optimistic, but I'm not quite as stressed. I have only 11 days left before the surgery and am visiting my sister two states away next week so I'm trying not to dwell.

thank you all for your support. I will definately keep you updated!

    Validation appreciated
Hey there Momspot, Thanks for the validation about pain and cysts and I just wanted to say how uplifting it is to have someone who is going through surgeries and uncertainty to take a minute to help someone else too. I really do appreciate it.

All the best in your upcoming surgery, please do keep us posting. Prayers are coming your way. Blessings, Bluerose
