I was just diagnosed as Stage 11, Grade 3, Triple negative. One lymph node out of 17. Is there anyone else out there that is a triple negative fighter or suvivor?

    Hello
Hello, Lakegirl, the cancer I had was also triple negative. Mine was stage 3A, 6 out of 15 lymph nodes. I had a mastectomy in November 2008, then chemo, and now I am halfway through radiation. Others here have also had triple negative cancers.

A lot of information can be found in past threads, which you can access using the search feature on the top right of the home Discussion page. Just enter "triple negative." Do ignore the older posts, though. The last year's worth should be useful. I strongly advise not googling triple negative.

My husband, Aortus, wrote a mini-lecture almost (!) on the subject a while back. Mimivac has written many wonderful, informative posts. And I as well as others will be glad to respond to any questions you have. You have come to the right place for support and understanding. I am very sorry to hear of your diagnosis--no type of cancer is easy or harmless--but I welcome you.

    Hi Lakegirl
As my beloved wife points out, I did post a little beginner's guide about "triple negative" breast cancer this spring.

The important thing is that there are plenty of "triple negative" (what a lousy term) ladies out there who are alive and well and dancing with NED (No Evidence of Disease). I happen to be happily married to one of them.

And in the meantime, follow Moopy's excellent advice and DO NOT GOOGLE. There is so much misleading cr@p out there, and it is so easy to stumble upon, that you are really much better off asking your oncologist, or asking questions here, or visiting http://www.tnbcfoundation.org (or all of the above) instead.

    Best,
    Joe

    Welcome, Lakegirl
My diagnosis was different, so can't specifically address yours - as Moopy and Aortus already have.

Again, welcome. We're all here to support and encourage each other. Glad you found us, glad to have you - though sorry for the reason. You are now surrounded by many survivors, some who can count back decades. Visit often, whenever you'd like or need to.

    Hello from another triple neg
I am also triple neg - diagnosed on 2/23/09 - with 1.2 cm IDC, no node involvement, stage 1, grade III - triple neg. Had lumpectomy on 3/25 and re-excision for clean margins on 4/8 - started Chemo on 4/30 with 4 DD AC x 4 every two weeks and then DD Taxol 4x - every two weeks. First taxol knocked me on my butt with bone/aches and on day three developed neuropathy in all fingertips and feet were like walking on hot coals. Went for my second today and they are making me wait another week and will be switching me to Taxotere which they feel may not cause me as much trouble with the neuropathy. We shall see. Just wanted to wish you all the best. Breastcancer.org has a lot of triple negs and specific threads for just them, and TNBCfoundation.org is also great. Check them out.

    New Drug
    Hi Lakegirl,
Saw your post and, although I'm not a triple neg, I did just read several articles and announcements in June about a new drug that shows great promise...specifically for triple negs - - - whoo hoo.

The class of drugs are called PARP inhibitors. They are designed for triple negs and BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes.

I am with others. I STRONGLY suggest you don't google. Talk with your onco - - - with the hype these babies have had, your onco should definitely know about them.

Also, a warm welcome to you!
