Okay now I am going to get chemo #2. I haven't lost my hair yet. I felt like I was pregnant after the first one. How the second treatment usually go!

    Second Chemo
My second chemo was much worse than the first, but it was my fault. I failed to take the anti-nausea drugs before the nausea actually happened. So just be sure to take your pills before you feel sick and try to keep something in your stomach. Also keep hydrated. I hope that you sail through your second infusion. I have five more taxol/herceptin treatments to go. Love Surf

    Mine was Better
My experience with under-medicating myself for nausea was at the first chemo. Also I was allergic to compazine. Not to mention fear of the unknown. So, all in all, my second treatment was notable easier: less frightening, less miserable and uncomfortable.

I wish the same for you, Kiley.

    Chemotherapy
The cool thing about chemo? And, who thought there was one??? With the passage of time, I don't even remember chemo! Of course I remember being there, but as far as anti-nausea drugs, I have no recollection of them! I have no idea if I was prescribed any ( I honestly don't think so) or if they were given to me on site, or not at all! I do remember a pill to stave off an allergic reaction, but that's it!
The cancer center I went to was all private rooms, and I understand some of the warriors here are in a room full of people. My experience was, I got settled in, had the port accessed with the drugs, I turned on the TV and either watched something which made me so bored I fell asleep, or my niece and I spent the time doing Mad-Libs, which we adored!

My hair started falling out like a shedding dog after the 2nd chemo and before the 3rd, so get ready! :-)

Keep hydrated, you need the liquid and to flush your system!

    Hugs,
    Claudia

    Chemo
I wish you well with your second chemo. Everyone is different, as they say. I am having my third chemo Monday,July 27. I have been lucky so far, I have not had one bit of nausea. I start on prescribed meds(Decadron, which is a steroid and anti nausea med) the day before chemo, and it is continued for 3 days post chemo along with Zofran for 3 days post. Then I have Compazine to take if needed. Before my chemo drugs are administered, I have 20 minutes worth of anti nausea meds administered and then they wait for 15-20 minutes for them to "kick in" before they start with the "BIG GUNS". I am taking Taxotere and Cytoxin.....perhaps it is a difference in drugs that we each take, that make some sick and others not. Biggest SE for me is the altered taste buds. Nothing taste right for about 5-6 days, which makes me not want to eat, but I do. I do have bone pain due to the Taxotere and the Neulasta injection. The first injection of that kicked my butt big time! Second injection caused minimal pain. So it remains to be seen how the third infusion will go. After that, I only have one more to go in August........YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Again, I wish you well....hugs to you!

    Good luck with your second
Good luck with your second treatment. I got very sick but that was in 2003 and I believe they have better medications now to help. Make sure your onc knows you are having trouble and they can give you suggestions and help. The nurse told me to keep something in my stomach so I'd eat a cracker which seemed to help.
