Hey Moopster! We haven't heard how you are doing in awhile, and,

inquiring minds want to know. ( well I do anyway lol )

So, how are you doing? How are the treatments going? How is your skin holding up? Are you

getting rest? Feeling ok?

Ok, I know, a lot of questions, but, it is only because I love you and am concerned!

Post whenever you can. And, HI JOE!

Love, Jeanne

    Hi Jeanne!

Moopsy and I are in the clinic now, waiting for our weekly meeting with the amazing Dr. Taylor. Once I get her fed and get her home, I will ask her to fill y'all in. Thank you so much for caring, Jeanne - it means so much to us both!

    Love,
    Joe

P.S. Ask Moopy about her upcoming career as (get this) a punk rocker!

    Hi Moopy and Joe
Hope your visit with your DR. is all good. I know how tiring radiation can be and You just rest all you can. I also am still very tired, but the burns suprisingly are healing very fast. I hope you have no burning at all dear.

As for hair..punk rocker sounds cool, mine was a porkepine head but now it is starting to fill in and get thicker...kind of like GI Jane, but I don't quite pull it off as well as Demi..Oh well, it is hair and i am glad to have it. I haven't worn a wig in about 6 weeks just my ball-caps. I just can't wait untill it grows more so i can color it. It is coming back gray, and no i won't grow old gracefully! LOL!

Not to much longer left my friend and before you know it you will be back home living happily ever after with your prince charming.
    Lotsa love, Jackie

    Hi Y'all
Thanks, my friends, for asking about me. I just finished 17 out of 29 treatments. The doc says my skin is not any more red than expected at this stage, and my bloodwork is good. I am beginning to feel the burn, as Jane used to say. Am following your advice and greasing up with Aloe and Aquaphor.

The worst thing is my left arm, due to lying with it over my head for so long. It hurts and is stiff. Aleve is good, I've discovered. I'm losing range of motion with the arm, too, so next up is an appt. with Physical Therapy. Sure wasn't expecting that with rads! Oh, well, I am soooooo tired with rads that I sleep a lot, anyway. Jeanne was right: rads are not a breeze. Which I could use right now, come to think of it.

Wishing you all a cool day and week and much love,

    Hi Moopy!
So nice to hear from you, Moopy. Glad that everything is going as expected, despite the arm pain. A physical therapist will hopefully give you some good strategies for that. My rad. onc. warned me about losing range of motion and developing long-term shoulder pain, too. She suggested certain exercises to try to keep my arm and shoulder "loose." Hope everything continues to go well. You are more than half-way there!!

Hey, TJ, you're in. Just use your early menopause anger and go with it. I've got black spiky little hairs--(ok, pepper and salt). So, we both have the look going for us.

You will need a rock star name, however. Mine is Moopy Mohawk. Maybe TJ Tantrum for you?

    Keep the beat,
    MM

p.s. sorry about the menopause thing. I'm actually happy about no period, and still too tired to be bi+chy. Although I guess only Aortus can confirm that....

More than half way through. How sweet is that? And glad that your burns are no greater than expected. Keep using those lotions and hopefully you won't have any major problems. I found that the worst for me was my arm. Not to the same degree as yours, but I had to have it over my head and holding this bar. It would be stiff and sometimes the tech would help me lower it. It was especially stiff on the simulation days. Oh, and the 1st treatment the program crashed and I was asked to stay in that position while they rebooted it. It must have been 20 minutes. At that time, the tech came in and said if I wanted to get up it was okay and they would just reposition me when it was up. But fortunately it came back up right then, she left the room and we finished it. She said it doesn't happen often and if it does it is usually on the 1st one. I was lucky that the moment it was done, I would do a few shoulder circles and swing it gently and it was okay. Physical Therapy is an excellent idea. You do not want to lose range of motion. Glad you are sleepig when you need to because that is one of the best things you can do for your recovery.
Hope the next 12 treatments fly by and you and Joe and darling pups are all home again.

Good to hear from you and I'm glad you're over half way there. I know it will be good to get this over with and get back to your own home esp with all the heat. Soon it will be over and it will all be a bad dream as you move on with your life. Sorry to hear about your arm but it sounds like you've been given good advice....if only you had the energy right?? You take care and get all the rest you need....no worries :)

    HULLO, Moopy Mohawk! :-)
Can't be left out of your rock band...

I wholeheartedly nominate Aortus as Business Manager. Because he's very intelligent. Plus, since he's not an avid practitioner of Retail Therapy - he'd be good at handling the $ money, insuring profits to be shared by all! Besides, he always has your very best interests in mind.

I nominate myself as Promotions Manager, leaning on my 20+ years in advertising. (Only if Aortus is agreeable to the partnership.)

With TJ Tantrum on drums (practicing Menopause Therapy) - what will be your role, Moopy Mohawk? Front woman/lead singer? YES! (Don't worry - if you can't actually sing, you surely could lip synch to someone else's voice!)

C'mon, ladies! We need musicians! Back-up singers! Crew! Step up!

And, we need a name for the group...
    The Moopinators, with Moopy Mohawk
    Menopausal Moopinators
    Chemically Induced Menopausers
    BC Bi+ches

OK, I'll stop. Sorry. Got a bit carried away. :-)

    Kind regards, Susan

    Hey MM
Moopy Mohawk...hmmmm...has a pretty good ring to it. It just sorta flows. And I like TJ Tantrum too. I'll volunteer back up singer....only because you may find me in the back snoozing, not singing!!
So, look for signs of burning around zapping 16-17??? My boobie is HOT for hours afterward and I sting in my underarm inscision a little, but nothing to speak of. So glad you are making it through. I figure I will be sick of it, oh say, by next week or so (ha,ha).
Good to hear from you moopy and glad your half way through. :) Pammy

Thanks Steff,Jan, Aurora,Pammy and Christmas Girl. What a nice lift you all give me here at the half-way point, with the end not in sight yet.

Pammy, backup singer you will be. How about special appearances sometimes as lead? Keep in mind, since you will not be sporting the spiky look (too bad for you), you will need to do something. How do you feel about purple or burgundy hair, or some other not-found-in-nature- hair color? You look petite, so you can wear spiky heels. I'm having trouble with a rock star name, though. Kiss is already taken.

Susan, you are awesome. I'm honored to have your skills and talents as promotion manager. (By the way, seriously I would like to know more about your work. Didn't you say you worked for Hallmark? Don't know much about promotional work and would enjoy learning.) As for Business Manager, Aortus is perfect: first because he does not practice retail therapy, as you cleverly noted, and also because I always know where his wallet is. No grapes of wrath tours for us!

Names, hmmmm, maybe one of the last two. It's a group effort, after all. I don't want to end up being a stage hog. Even if I am currently greased up like a pig.

I bet Cat would write some original songs for us, too.

Thanks for the fun and encouraging messages,

    love, Moopy

    Hey Back Moopy! lol
I hadn't heard from you in awhile and was getting concerned if you were doing ok with your rads. Halfway done! That is great! I started getting pink in a few places after my 3rd week. Glad your bloodwork is good! Yes, grease yourself up with Aquaphor! That stuff really helps your skin to stay moist and keeps it from getting tight. I still use it occasionally Moopy. And, I am about 2 months out almost. My radiation oncologist still wants me to use Biafine, so, I use it occasionally too. He said I was still going to be cooking for quite awhile and I needed it.

So sorry about your arm. Like I said, mine laid comfortably almost next to me in a sling like thing. So, it never bothered me. Maybe, you need something stronger, like a prescription for Ibuprofen. But, check with doc first. And Moopy, rads are not a breeze like some said. Or, for me, 37 treatments were NOT!

Just get lots of rest, and, grease yourself like a pig. lol So good to hear from you, you lil punker! Miss you!

    Aquaphor
Everybody at Barnes-Jewish/Siteman Cancer Center is absolutely wonderful, but they are so freeking cheap with the skin goop. First it was Walgreens aloe vera, and now we have to buy aloe vera ourselves. They do give Moopster these farty little tubes of Aquaphor whenever she asks, but we both get tired of squeezing it out like toothpaste. That stuff is thick! So tonight we bit the bullet and got the industrial size drum of Aquaphor. Muuuuch easier to use even if we did have to pay for it ourselves.

    The funniest part
The originator of the "punk rocker" idea was Dr. Taylor herself. She is a very soft-spoken, low key person. Not "just" a radiation oncologist, but a professor of radiation oncology at Washington University Medical School. A very, very kindly woman... but very, very serious too.

So it cracked us both up all the more when Dr. Taylor noted in passing last week that Moopy's spiky black hair made her look like a punk rocker. Moopster would have to be the least punky person I know, with Dr. Taylor right after her. We laughed like crazy people all the way home.
