OMG....piece of cake!! Got there early (knew hubby would make sure I had plenty of time!) and they did take me early. Glad Moopy had warned me about the machine and table moving!! I was sooooooo spaced out on xanax that I thought it was the coolest thing in the world!!
I dubbed the machine "Optimus Prime" from the transformer movie. They were laughing at me and we actually had a good time. Gesh....I must be the first person to say that I had a good time getting rads!!
They will give me all the lotion I want and also all the nutrional supplements I want if I find I can not eat 3-6 times a day to keep my strength up. Shhhhh.....I didn't tell them I was on a diet!!
No music....no time. I'll bet I wasn't in there 5 min to position me (She drew squares all over me again!! Laughed and said she will be doing this everyday!), 10 min to zap me, and I'll say 3 min to dress & undress. Hubby says 15 min total...I said 18 min (I won!)
Hubby celebrated my first day (only 34 more to go!) by taking me to dinner. He is such a sweetheart!! He is bumming over the car though. His has hundreds of dings in it from the hail. My car that was parked 2 miles down the road at his work....was untouched!! Glad it was only one car hit or I could be paying 2 $250.00 deductables!!
Well, we'll see how it goes tomorrow....I will give you play by play for sure. Still waiting to meet the cute male tech!! :) Pammy

Go glad it went well. And
Go glad it went well. And use those lotions and hopefully you won't have too much burning. Eat good, rest when you need to and this will be done before you know it.

See Pammy I told you it was easy. I would go in and tell the techs that I only wanted to be med well done though. Except that is on Fridays then it had to be well done so it would get me through till Monday. I considered it my own personal BBQ.
Happy Smiles to you my friend

I have often said that it
I have often said that it takes longer to get undressed than it takes to get rads! Or am I thinking of something else? LOL Nevermind! The last time I made a joke about my personal life, I was chastised and ended up apologizing...so I will say SORRY right now, just in case! :-)

Rads was the proverbial walk in the park for me...so a few hints to help you, ok? The burn is cumulative~ my radiation center gave away Aquaphor ointment by the handful...as often as you can go bra-less and wear big comfy T-shirts, do so! Be ultra careful with your skin~ it will be tender...

As far as bathing is concerned, get a soft, natural sponge and Aveeno body wash. Nothing with perfume or dye, which makes Aveeno great. Saturate the sponge with not too hot water, add the Aveeno and just squeeze the foam over the affected side~ NEVER rub your skin! Pat it dry with a soft soft towel, and goop on your ointment of choice. Your skin may get itchy eventually; if so, ask your Dr for a Prescription for hydrocortisone creme, the OTC stuff isn't strong enough.

The cool thing about rads? You get the ever coverted underarm and nipple tan ( whoo hoo) and, cancer evidently doesn't live on weekends! Who knew???

Glad your sweet man took you out for dinner...awwwwww! Some things are way more important than diets; namely LIVE-ITS!

    Hugs,
    Claudia

    I finally caught you!!!!!!!!
I've already posted a reply to two of your other threads from earlier today and I think I'm finally catching up, I'm gone all day at work and it always takes me awhile see what I've missed.. But....I think I fianlly caught you :)

Really glad to hear all went well today. For some reason I've been really scared of rads and not as scared of chemo. I must have it all backwards because you made it sound so easy.

Good luck to you Pammy and keep us updated on everything, you've taken so much fear out of the unknown for me. Thanks so much for that.

    God Bless

Darn, I've been caught!! But as they say, I am innocent until proven guilty!! And I would just like to say in my defense.....yes, I admit it!! I'm guilty!! I was laughing and giggling and whooping it up at rads, but, but, the xanax made me do it!! It wasn't ALL my fault!! :) Pammy

    Piece of cake
See Pammy? just another example of the waiting being worse than the doing. Of course it was a piece of cake, always will be for us warrior women!
Just make sure you tell them you don't want to get any more cooked than medium rare.
Hail? Really? Cool! except for the car thing. I would be really upset if my car got dinged by hail, hubby actually named it Optimus Prime! what a coincidence.
So now that you have begun the rads, how long do you have til the end?

    Pammy,
I love how you describe events in your life. As I said in an earlier thread ... I'm still waiting for Chapter 7 of your surgery. You've left all of us hanging for the "conclusion." We know it came out OK ... but I want to hear the "rest of the story" anyway. LOL

And ... I look forward to hearing more as your "Pammy does rads" story continues. You have a great way of keeping us all in suspense waiting for the next chapter/book. Sort of like those Harry Potter fans.

    hugs.

    Hi Pammy
I started out very nervous but once I got into the swing of it, I had fun with the technicians, nurses and doctors. You will also get to know everyone in the waiting room because they will be there every day at the same time too and celebrate with them when they are done and welcome the new ones in. It was more of a social get together every day. After a while, I went to see my new friends and the radiation was like an afterthought. Use the creams, you will need them.
