I have written several times about how depressed I have been, which I think is due (at least partially) to the Femara. Now I want to know: which antidepressants have you found to be helpful, and did any of them cause side effects (especially hair thinning, but would like to know about any side effects)?

When I first realised I had a problem I trotted off to the doc's and he put me on Effexor...This did not suit me, it made me shaky, nervous and more prone to panic attacks...So he switched me to Zoloft..It's working just great and doesn't dumb you down at all. But it is different for everyone. I've heard of people who have vice-versa results. Good Luck Jxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    which
I had suffered with depression for about 5 years that had nothing to do with my current situation. I've been on Prozac (did nothing) Effexor (gained 20 pounds) and finally Wellbutrin XL which was great. I stopped taking Wellbutrin back in September and have felt fine since. There is something out there that will be effective for you, but remember, don't expect it to work overnight. It takes a little time. Good luck to you.

I've also suffered from depression for many years and been on several anti-depressents. The one I took the longest was prozac and it worked for many years ... then I started feeling as though it wasn't working as well and the doctor switched me to wellbutrin ... and that made me cry all the time ... then he put me on zoloft along with the wellbutrin and I've been on that combination for a few years now. I take the wellbutrin in the morning and the zoloft before I go to bed. Since my cancer diagnosis there have been several times when I wondered if I might need my dosage increased or medication changed ... but ... then I sort of realized it was more of an anxiety feeling than depression ... so when those times come I take a xanax.

Actually ... there are so many drugs out there ... and so many combinations that your doctor may have to try several before you find the right thing for you. It's kind of like the cancer drugs ... we all react differently.

Just don't give up ... there's something out there for you ... and you will feel better.

    hugs.
