I thought we might start a tradition of sharing our weekend plans. It always makes me happy to know that my sisters here have such full and rich lives and do so many awesome things. We have horse riders, overseas travelers, spiritual journeyers, flyfishers, guppy breeders, and so many others! I also like to hear of those with quiet or contemplative plans, like evenings spent in a bubble bath with a good book, or a day with a beloved family member. I think it helps us get to know each other and reminds those going through treatment that there is Life After Cancer, as Claudia would say. So, I will start:

Tonight my husband and I are going out for sushi and then attending a Kennedy Center performance of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" that will be performed entirely with dance.

Saturday I am attending a baby shower for a law school friend and Sunday I will be going to the gym and then meeting two friends at the spa to get my legs waxed (ouch) and have mimosas (yum).

Please tell me what you're doing!

    I'm afraid........
I'm afraid that I will be schlepping back and forth to the hospital to see hubby. Looks like he will be in there for awhile yet. Uggghhh...I hate that commute!

On a happier note, I have an appt. tomorrow to see our new puppy (Dolly) for the first time.

    I want a re-do!!! No fair...
I want a re-do!!! No fair... this weekend I want to get out and boogie... unfortunately I think my get up and go, got up and went, and that what's left of my boogie is tangled up in a drain tube. So, hopefully for me since sleep has still been quite evasive, I am hoping that I can go without pain medication and get some sleep. Maybe I can get some energy to go for a nice walk around the block.. that at least would be something...

Okay all you sisters who have the energy and the means... get out there and boogie a little for me... have FUN!!!

now that sounds like an awesome weekend! waiting for hair to fall out...Well you can always buzz it and make it go faster. Joking aside, I am so sorry you will be going through this, and I will not say "it will grow back" because I hated it when anyone said that to me, but it was an adventure!

Don't do to much Taleens. I thought I could do more and went on the train downtown to meet with a lawyer to do a deposition we have been waiting 2 years to do. Not good, was in so much pain a few hours into this and was in bed at 7:30. To much I guess to soon.

    Taleena, if you can sleep
Taleena, if you can sleep without the pain meds I suggest trying Extra Strength Tylenol. I did not take pain meds and it does take the edge off the pain.

Jaavon, hope you make it out with your daughter. I found the bone pain to be less each time, hope it is for you.

Dyaneb, I buzzed my hair when it started coming out which wasn't until after the second treatment of A/C. It is a personal choice of course but I feel for me it was easier to have it gone than to have it keep falling out in clumps. What I wasn't prepared for was how upset my kids were when they saw me. There are some great websites forhats and scarves out there.

I am enjoying being in contact with all of you
    have a nice weekend

It sounds like you have a lot planned for the weekend. I am just going to sleep. We had our girls weekend last weekend and for five days there was not a lot of sleep. And maybe play with my glass, plant some of my orphans, play with the kitties, read a book, watch a movie.
Hope every one has a wonderful time doing whatever they feel like!

    pain meds
    Taleena,

I find that Tylenal with Codeine, works well. I still use it from time to time, and found that it works better than some of the other pain relievers. I don't know what you're using, but the codeine knocks me out.

Even if you can't boogle, have a good week-end anyway. You'll have your time soon enough, in the meantime, just keep your humor coming our way. :D

    What a great idea!
Well, I suppose I could say that my week-end began yesterday (Thurs) because I didn't have to go to work. I am off for the summer, though I need to go in every so often to plan a new curriculum with my teacher team (next Tues, for example).

Let's see, my newly certified therapy dog, Emmy, had two inteviews this week and, starting next week, she will begin her visitations. Thus far, she is scheduled to go to a local senior home and rehad center and to make home visits for a hospice facility. We will do a try-out with "Read-with-the-Dogs" next Friday, and Monday she will be going with my husband and me to a medical center so my husband can be fitted for his new eye prosthesis (my husband is deafblind and recently had to have his other eye enucleated). He will soon have pretty sky-blue eyes--I told him I will have to call him "Ol' Blue Eyes." But, I asked him to pls not sing. :) (For you younger folks,"Ol Blue Eyes" was Frank Sinatra.)

Tmr, Saturday, I will be going to see several of my students, ones that I have known since middle school, graduate from hs. Sunday, will be a day of rest until the evening when I go my church meeting and listen to a woman talk about her mission work in India.

In the in-between hours, I hope to work on my gardens (I had not worked on them in 3 summers) so they need some tending. This is my summer to feel good and I plan to take full advantage of it!

    dmc
PS: And, of course, keep in touch with all my new-found friends.
