    Hair Club For Women
Congrats on finishing chemo, Cheryl! Moopy will be pleased to learn that the Hair Club For Women (motto: "Where, oh where is my hair") has its latest member.

It's about five weeks since Moopy's last infusion and she has fuzzies all over, to go with a 1 o'clock shadow and several little patches of short (gulp!) red hair. As a former redhead myself - now I am a grayhead or a nohead depending on how you look at it - I don't know if I'm prepared for a redheaded Moopy!

Congrats! Now that it's summer time your hair should grow faster (all that vitamin d in the air), also massage your scalp that helps the blood flow to the roots which also helps hair grow! Think of each root as a plant--they need sunshine and moisture for growth! Looks like that "honey" on your left would be great at scalp massages--get his hands to working on your scalp!

    scalp rubs
Scalp rubs sound like great fun!! Is it ok to expose that scalp to the sun. I've been pretty much keeping it under a cap (except for a minute or ten here and there).

    Heartfelt congratulations, sunnygirl!
HUGE accomplishment - good for you, to be DONE with it! Give yourself a big ol' pat on the back - and one from me, too!

Now, the real healing and recovery begins in earnest. Yes, be good to yourself.

    Kind regards, Susan

P.S.: Just use sunscreen if you decide to expose your bare scalp.

    chemo
    Majw,
Boy, these discussion boards are loaded with great advice. What is your chemo, that has a lot to do with side effects. Start drinking fluids two days before infusions and continue for at least five--if not more--days after. That helps to flush your system. Chemocare.com has lots of info on the different chemo drugs.

For me, I had AC and taxol, the first ac was a surprise. The infusion was ok, but about 4 days after, I "crashed"--all weepy, depressed--just kind of leave me ALONE!!! I didn't expect it, so I was ready to quit the whole thing, thinking the next 16 weeks of my life would be like that. That lasted only a couple of days and never was as bad for other infusions, but I think it was because I knew it would pass.

One day at a time, one infusion at a time. Bug your oncologist with any and all questions you have. If you feel sick--let them know immediately. Everyone reacts differently, so there's no "Answer".

You'll find tons of support with this group. Someone has experienced what you're experiencing and will be able to walk you through it.

Take care and God Bless. Huge Hug!! Cheryl

I wouldn't think having your scalp exposed for less than 15 mins a day during the least intense sun during the day. Maybe wear a straw hat to diffuse the sun. Use sunblock as well. (But check with dr--I'd hate for you to get sick.) If all else, get that "honey" of yours to massage your scalp once or twice a day!

    Doing the Happy, Happy Dance!
Cheryl, I am so thrilled for you! Your hair will start growing very soon. A chemo nurse told me that it is typically 3 months when patients see enough hair to go without a hat.

Congratulations on climbing that mountain up one side and down the other. You did it!
