Can anyone suggest the best hospitals for treatment of AML. My mother was just diagnosed yesterday. We are scared to death. Also does anyone know where the best stem cell treatment centers are in US? Who are the premier institutions?

OHSU in Portland Oregon is wonderful, that is were my wife is getting treatment, and am very happy with the facility and staff. Also was were a lot of the studies are done, including the inventors of Gleevac-Imantib.

I was diagnosed with AML in early 08. I underwent a Bonemarrow Transplant at Stanford, great people and Doctors. Patric Swazy was treated there while I was there....Its a great place.

In my personal experience fighting AML Leukemia and undergoing a bone marrow transplant at this hospital was the best thing that ever happened to me in my fight. The care and treatment I received by the drs, nurses, staff, and just about anyone I've come in contact with in there was amazing. I owe my life to these people and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this facility to anyone who needs it. Thank God a place like this exists. I'm sure there are many other wonderful places, but since this is where I went and continue to go for follow up treatment, my opinion may be a bit biased :)

The University of Chicago, I believe, is well regarded for it's cancer treatment. I believe it's within the top 6 or so in the US.
