Just wondering why the senna-s or and other similar projects are empty on the shelves.

Monika I read your note about it but thought, no we have it. Then yesterday we stopped at walmart and the shelves are empty. I googled the question but found nothing.

Just curious and hoping it is only temporary.

    NOT SURE
The only thing I heard, Bonnie, is that many of these products are causing kidney problems. I believe that part of the action of these things is that they draw the moisture from your body to facilitate a bowel movement. Doing so, it depletes you of potassium and other important minerals, which puts a strain on the kidneys, and I'm sure other organs as well.

I've googled also and just can't seem to find more info. And these products have been on the shelves forever, so I'm not sure what sparked these recalls. Even the lady at Meijer told me, when I asked why they were pulled, that they don't get information, just direction to pull from the shelves.

I'll keep looking. If I find anything I'll post further. I also hope it's temporary, as I know it is necessary for many of us. My husband has intestinal issues, and uses some of the products also.

    Luv & Hugs!

    Try Probiotics
Probiotics such as Pearls (at Wal-mart) work great and cause no side effects. Otherwise, there's Activia Yogurt. Some brands of probiotics don't do much but Pearls does. Also a great help is ground flax seed sprinkled in cereal, granola, or whatever. Then you never have to worry about kidney problems. Sometimes laxatives and fiber suppliments cause cramping--it happened to me so I avoid them. Especially after the bowel obstruction back in Dec. 2007. If you tend towards bowel obstructions, never never take laxatives. I've had constipation problems most of my life, even in my early 20s. It was particularly a challenge during chemo. And after the surgery it was a week before I could go, thanks to the help of Activia yogurt. That was the only thing that worked, not even the drugs they gave me in the hospital really worked for me. They came out with plain activia yogurt also, which I asked the Dannon company to do. I didn't like the artificially sweetened type and the regular has alot of sugar. There is also some other products out there now that have probiotics in them. Dean's cottage cheese carries a type with it in it. I buy that sometimes, especially when it's on sale.

    Senna S
    Hi Bonnie,
Two days ago I was looking on the computer for info on this subject and came across a site that said this was a Class II recall (not too serious). The reason given was that Senna products have lactose and tartaric acid, which are not listed on the label. I'm quite sure it is only temporary. I'd tell you where I found it, but I can't remember! Hope this helps.

Thanks for sharing ~ I have to tell you I have either tried or have most of the things you listed. They are really good for your system and body but when you get to place I am at they do not help much with moving things along. I am grateful that companies have given more choices to people who need it though.

    Hugs ♥ Prayers Bonnie
