Elevated Liver Enzymes Post Treatment

Hello everyone. Wanted to know if anyone's liver enzymes were still high after completion of treatment. I had 12 rounds of oxyiplatin, 5-Fu, and Leucovorin. I have had blood test, liver test, and CT scans and thus far nothing has given the reason why.

Would like to know your thoughts.

    Yes, me....Alk phosphate high
    We think the cause for mine was the gallbladder. I had it out last month, and we will retest blood in a couple weeks. I will keep you posted. I have heard it can take a while for them to come down. Which numbers are high and how high are they?

    Thanks for responding. My ALK Phoshatase is 351; ALT is 216; and AST is 166.

    My only real high one was the alk phos. It has been at 244. I have read that it can be caused from gb problems (like a blockage) or that alk phos can be released from the bones as well. I would hope that your numbers will go down soon. What does your onc say? How long ago did you finish treatment? I finished over, 3 months ago, but again, we think it was from the gb.

    It depends how long you have
    It depends how long you have been a "heavy drinker"; if your high levels were the result of a few weeks partying, they will probably go down within a month or so, but if they are the result of months or years of regular heavy alcohol use, they may not go down without medication.

    High liver numbers
    Hello! My primary just mentioned to me last month that my liver counts were a little high. She didn't seem concerned about it, so i didn't think it was an indication of anything. I've been out of treatment since August of '08, and no one has ever mentioned my liver counts being high before now. I was also just diagnosed with diabetes. Could this be why they're high?

    I'm having surgery on Friday. I'll ask one of the nurses.

    Elevated liver enzymes
    My treatment ended Dec. 4, and I am not a heavy drinker. As a matter of fact since diagnosis back in April, I have not touched the stuff. I have not been diagnosed with diabetes. As I said in my earlier post, I've had several blood test; even had another CEA tumor marker. The onc. seems to think that it is a result of the chemo meds. and that they will evenually come down. However, he is still running tests to rule out other causes. If it wasn't for the constant pain that I feel on this right side, I would not even be concerned about it.

    Liver numbers
    Hey Krista and all... apparently numerous things can impact liver numbers and it doesn't mean anything serious. Yes, Diabetes can influence the numbers, as can a "fatty" liver, age, sex, obesity, alcohol, and numerous other possibilities.

    I know we've all heard this before and it's easier to hear when it is for someone else, but try and not worry too much about it. Your doctor(s) will probably do various blood tests to rule out that it's anything to worry about. Just make sure, for your own peace of mind, that they explain to you what they are looking at/for and if they are not concerned, then an explanation as to why they are not concerned so you won't have to be concerned either :)

    mine are high as well and i expect it to take a little while to come back down.. my doctor is not concerned at all. to make myself feel better i checked the nurses drug books at work and for the chemo drugs we use it does say they cause elevated liver enzymes. I was also happy to see it in writing that it causes discoloring of extremeties.. as my fingers and toes have turned a brownish color.
