Ok, I just did the whole 2 week diet thing, thyrogen shots, i-131 whole body scan I called today for results only to find out my dr on a 3 week vacation! His nurse isnt in until tomorrow. I am not waiting 3 weeks for results! My thyroglobulin went up slightly last yr so we are back to thyrogen scans. Do you think he could've had the courtesy to call me before he left? Sorry for venting, I am so upset right now. I am almost ready to change mds

You aren't nuts.. I am all over these doctors about my daughters scans. She had a ct scan on 3/27. Her primary's nurse forwarded it to her surgeon and the endo that ordered fax machine is broke.. This is the University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago.. You mean to tell me there isn't a general fax machine that they could fax to her at.. She is the one that would deliver the results.. This is 2009 what about e-mail.. Hello.... Tomorrow is the dead line.. I am calling the endo.. I know they think I'm certifiable, but I really don't care.. Vent all you want, you should be pissed, I am pissed for you too.. There is no reason to wait three weeks.. I've waited a week and I am getting a little nutty.. I would demand to speak to someone regarding your scans. How about the nuc med dept.. I know they always love to hear from me...LOL Good Luck and Hope you hear NEO.. Stay strong and God Bless.

My scan was on the 27th in Elk Grove ,IL. We are close by! I was diagonosed with Thyroid Ca in 1995, had 3 clean scans, then last year I kinda complained of being 'tired' & almost asked for some tests . my thyroglobulin went up to 6, so this year I am back to the scan stuff, to keep watch, so you can see why I am kinda 'hyper'. Well, I EXPECT a call tomorrow from a nurse or his partner. I know they deserve vacations too, but why not let me know to call before he leaves or give me a name of someone to cover him while he is gone? I work in healthcare & we ALWAYS prep our pts for changes unless it has been an 'emergency' kind of situation.

You are close by.. I can understand why your hyper. These are diagnostic test which you want the results timely.. I hope you were able to reach someone.
The waiting process is grueling.. My daughter has fantastic doctors.. I have all the confidence in them. I feel that we have been blessed to be referred to them..
She is in the follow up stages after 2 major surgeries and RAI on May 27.. You can read brief discription on this website at "What generally happens next" It was a long process of getting here and I want it to be over.. It wasn't a typical case. She had alot of disease.. So I do excessively worry. Sometimes I lose it about small stuff.. It is just the anxiety of waiting.. Please write back and let me know how you are.

Well, I finally got a call from the nurse (she is wonderful, just not there everyday). My thyroglobulin was 4 , so it didnt go up from last year, but is not where it should be. She said she would prefer me to talk to my Dr instead of having his partner decide what to do. I am ok with that since at least the numbers haven't gotten higher. 3 weeks wont be a big deal. Ahhhh, breath.........I always seem to get all hyper from all these shots & meds, & flippin diet. Well, I will just 'chill' now to the 23rd or whenever & enjoy lots of iodine in my diet, lol
