Tamoxifen at end of effectiveness

Hello everyone!

While I am still taking tamoxifen (just short of a year now), it seems to have lost its effectiveness in lowering my CA-125, which has been lurking in the upper 50's and low 60's for a few months. I'm going to have another CT scan soon.

Other than that, I feel good, look all right (except for having a really bad hair day today), and am looking forward to getting outside a lot more.

My oncologist has not suggested taking more tamoxifen and said to stay on it "for now", so we'll see what happens.

Sue

Dearest Sue, I hate hearing that the tamoxifen seens to have stopped working. When is the Ct scan scheduled for and when do you get the results?

You really do look good ~ this must not be a picture of your bad hair day. :-)

It is wonderful to have the nicer weather, we are here in MN too, and have gotten outside a bit.

I am praying for you, and well be watching for an update. Feel the strength and energy sent to you as you are being lifted in prayer ~ (((((((((hugs)))))))))) Love Ya Bonnie

    You Look Amazing!
    Sue
I must say that you look great! Are those new glasses? I am so sorry to hear of the tamoxifen but you seem to have some pretty amazing doctors and I am sure there is a lot of thought going into what they will do next. Let us know how your ct scan goes and I will keep checking back for your results. As always Sue I think of you often and keep you in my prayers!

    tamoxifen
Sue, you have been on tamoxifen for a looong time! Do you know what percentage of your tumor is estrogen sensitive? Did your CA125 actually come down, or did the taxoxifen keep the number steady? Mine are 50% and was contemplating asking for femara or tamoxifen for after my chemo is finished. I am on gemzar/cisplatin right now. Tomorrow I go in for cycle 3. I have felt so good this last week, that i am not looking forward to taking the hit. Oh well, it is what the ovca warrior does to stay alive.....

I echo the other ladies in saying that you do look good and that you are feeling good is excellent!

    Warm hugs,

    Tamoxifen
    Hi Kathleen,

I need to tell everyone that I really appreciate the concern! I'm feeling very good, and have had my CT scan (on the 25th) and am waiting to hear if anything was seen.

Kathleen, I have had a PET scan and four CT scans in about a year's time, looking for tumors-nothing shows yet, so there's no tumor to test for estrogen sensitivity.

I've been taking tamoxifen for just about a year now, and my CA-125 seems to have hit a level that it's staying at. My oncologist wants me to keep taking the tamoxifen - there won't be any further treatment until there's real evidence of recurrance.

    Mine on Femara
My CA125 has remained aroung 50 also on the Femara. My oncologist says not to worry, as 50 is not high for me and that steady number shows that the Femara is holding the cancer growth back. CT still clear. It is doing a number on my bone density and I had to start Foxamax for that. Have you had a bone density test? Saundra
