Always loved horses from the time I can remember but never owned one and only rode one as a child that went round and round (it was live but I love merry-go-rounds too). I like to read too. We have a dog which was a stray puppy. I trained her. I go next door twice a day to let their dog out. I like gardening. I started doing zigsaw puzzles recently but stopped when my husband took the board I use to do them on. Lately I've been on this computer so much I got a neck cramp. I like to paint also, mostly landscapes and still life. Almost forgot, we like to camp too but haven't had time the last couple years.

I forgot, I sew too. I like interior design.

Oh oh, just love movies. I love Star Trek, The Next Generation. Love science fiction.

I'm sorry, I just keep thinking of stuff. I'll stop now.

I like to read and write fiction, particularly fantasy. Love your picture...looks like a great character, a mermaid or forest nymph maybe? I went to a boarding school that had horses and taught riding. I took lessons and spent a lot of time helping take care of the horses on weekends...my friends thought I was crazy because I actually like the smell of stable (when its clean). Our family loves to travel and watch movies together.

    Well...
I grew up on horseback. It was a great way to spend a childhood!
My four year old granddaughter is taking riding lessons now, as she loves horses too!

I spend as much time as possible with our two young grandkids. They make me laugh and I love to laugh!
Otherwise, I can usually be found hanging out with our three dogs or with my two pet goats...yep, goats.
It's true, I am an animal lover ever since I can remember...

And I will admit to enjoying a trip to the casino every once in awhile. But shhhhh, don't tell anyone that I have any faults! They would be shocked! LOL!!

Oh, btw, I also aspire to be like Maxine. Irrascible to the core! But I'm really just a big old mush!

Called a DINK (double income, no kids) which explains why my husband and I spend lots of time together. We love to cruise, go to Las Vegas, San Antonio and to the Kentucky Derby (annual family reunion). We dine out as much as possible and go to the movies. Two Jack Russell Terriers, one of which is 7 months old (she's a challenge), keeps me busy while at home. Also enjoying life after breast cancer and living like it will never return!

    When i'm not in here................
I love the idea of getting to know you all better. Thanks Julia. I love being outdoors.. I always have a garden and love growing tomatoes and peppers, come harvest time I can many many cases of veggies and give alot away to friends and family for xmas..I know thats kinda cheap but they love this more than anything! I love to go camping and fishing.. with my hubby and have quite a few "fish stories"..my dog loves this too..except when she runs into porcipines! ouch poor baby! I love to walk with my dog and take her for runs in the beautiful badlands of Mt.

I like to read, watch good movies, fly to colorado and spend time with my bestfriend/daughter. We really know how to rip it up..we go to commedy clubs, nature walks and sometimes casinos and bars. We are planning to walk the relay for life and get a tatoo when i'm done with treatments. I love spending time with all of my family.

I find it uplifting to work at the Nursing Home that i live just across the street from so when i can't work i can always pop over to see my old friends..play a little game of Wii bowling with them, visit or attend their church services. I love going to lunch with my friends. I also like to get on-line with you sweet helpful survivors who understand more about me than most people could ever.

Hope and pray we all get back to the good life that we all adore and what makes us happy! and thank God always for the life he has given to us!
    lotsa hugs

I read, walk the dogs, and read.
I had to laugh when I read that both Tasha and Lynn (I think) are so bad off they will read the out-of-town phone book if there's nothing else to read in the motel. Moopy has watched me pull that stunt time and time again over the years.

Speaking of the Moopster, I am happy to say she had a very smooth time of it at her third infusion yesterday. A very good meeting with the Nurse Practitioner, a surprise visitor (one of Moopy's "telephone mentors"), and lots of nice warm blankets. As with the second infusion, she snoozed comfortably the last 45 minutes or so. We had a bite to eat, came home, and she snoozed pretty solidly all evening. Then she slept like a cute little rock all night; now she is up and bustling about and making plans for the morning.

So far, so good... hope all is well as can be with all of YOU this morning!

    I love to...
Read in my rocking chair, do yoga, meditation, walking in nature. Before cancer, I used to do a lot more (Tae Kwon Do - I have a black belt, piano, bass guitar etc) . When I was diagnosed, it's as if I was standing in front of a blackboard filled with activities and then all of a sudden everything was erased. To this day, I am still standing in front of the blackboard with the chalk in my hand and am very careful which activities I am going to write down. I feel I don't want to waste prescious time doing things that aren't meaningful. Still feeling stuck after 2 years, but I also tell myself that if cancer hadn't suceeded in slowing me down, a burn out would have.

Glad to know more about all of you.

    Hobbies ...
Life before cancer I was a gallery owner, gardening, weaving, reading, cooking and eating, travel (to Italy and around), I have two horses, love dressage although I have a very steep learning curve.

My husband, Arthur Norby,is a sculptor. He recently created a sculpture supporting this journey through breast cancer ... Renewal II (being cast in bronze). We strive to look at this in a positive way. The sculpture represents renewal, regeneration and rebirth. We will all come through this stronger and new women in many ways. I will have a totally new left breast! Hoping my hair will come in red and curley! I have a tough time right now staying positive on all this.

I have done my treatment at the Montana Cancer Center in Missoula. (Just beginning radiation.) We are planning a fundraising event for the Cancer Center. A percentage of the sale of each of these sculptures will be donated to the Cancer Center's Compassion Fund ... This fund helps individuals who can't afford their treatment.

Part of my healing will be this fund raiser. I believe in giving back ... in volunteer time, whatever. Today I'm working at a local senior housing place, fixing dinner for 8 residents. I need to stop feeling sorry for myself, giving some time to others, and getting out of the house, will, hopefully, do that for me.

I also have two cats ... Love my Kitties! An adorable doberman (75 lb. lap dog) and 3 chickens! I already mentioned 2 mares (Arab and Quarter Horse/Arab cross. The picture in the background is a portrait of my girls.) Love having animals, creatures around me. We have a large pond in our front yard that has trout and gold fish co-habitating.

My life in a nut shell ...

Not as turquoise as I used to be
But did you get a look at the nice turquoise wall behind Moopy's pretty little head? That picture was taken in our bedroom. I personally picked that color out and did all the painting, about five years ago. Moopy, btw, is sleeping there right now after a VERY good after-infusion day.

To see the sculpture "Renewal II" go to www.arthurnorby.com, you'll see "artwork navigator" then go to "Special Offers".

This is a photo of the clay sculpture. We should have the bronze casting in the next couple weeks. I'll update the photo then.

    This and That
Let's see~ I read, ( alot!) watch old black and white movies, I adore cooking and hosting dinner parties. I listen to Classic Rock, and still know in my heart of hearts I of should have been a singer/dancer! LOL

I like history, and in particular learning almost anything about the Civil Rights Movement in the US~ and I also have a brain chock full of mainly useless info. It makes me good at Trivial Pursuit, and winning the occasional bet! :-)

Hmmmm what else? On the average of once a month I package up leftover dinners, breads, pastries ( I even ask bakeries to donate) and take food and toiletries I have gotten from hotel rooms to the homeless who live in the park. I have never been afraid to walk over to groups of "disenfranchised" and share my excess. They have always been gracious and so very thankful. It is a bittersweet experience, to be sure, but I can't imagine throwing food away when I know others have nothing. For whatever reason.

And if rambling and going off subject is a hobby--I do that too!!

    Hugs,

    I have green eyes.....
Well,I guess you knew that. I too grew up with horses, riding all summer long thru the backroads of the pacific NW. I sew, preserve canned goods, sing on the worship team at my church, play the harp, learning to make jewelry, go camping in our vintage airstream trailer, and travel. I love hot and sandy beaches, and hot and spicey food. I love to play bunco, and get together with friends over a good meal and laugh. And I love this place of new friends and incredible support. And I have loved reading about you all and what you enjoy and do. My current state of employment is doing elder care-one lady is 98 and the other is 94. What a wonderful wealth of info they are to the past. I have seen some great pictures and heard some amazing stories.

    Oh, how fun
I love these kinds of threads. All of you have such rich, interesting lives. It's great to know about them. As for me, before my years of drudgery in law school, I went to grad school for fiction writing. So, I write. After law school, I got so bored that I started film school at Boston University (DC campus). I had to put that on hold for treatments, but I love to work on film editing on my Final Cut system at home. I have one short documentary under my belt. I love movies, museums, art, and music.

Let's see, I read constantly and am obsessed with healthy eating, and trying to find ways to relax. I adore my two cats. One is grumpy and loves me to death; the other is sweet and hides all day. I want to make my body as healthy as possible and be in the best shape of my life after all this cancer treatment stuff is over. I also dream of having a peaceful beach home someday, as well as a condo in the city. Oh, and I love staying in beautiful hotels. This is where I would like to go after chemo is over: http://www.littlepalmisland.com/

    Please keep them coming!

Isn't it great to remember that there is more to our lives than cancer! I'll be 49 next month, married 23 years, daughter 20, son 18, one loveable cat, one playful Boxer. I enjoy exercising at a local club, power walking and absolutely love my yoga. Reading is my escape. I love to entertain, cook, arrange flowers. I love live entertainment (plays, concerts), and camping at the beach. I'm fortunate that I like my job as a juvenile Probation Officer. While I love being with my friends I really enjoy taking "me time"...quiet, on my deck with a nice bottle of red wine and chocolate and being thankful.

Love getting to know you all better!
