Hello to everyone!
As a North Carolinian, I feel a duty to say thanks to a very publicly courageous cancer fighter, NC State Women's Basketball coach, Kay Yow. Kay Yow "got her angel wings" - I like that too, Karen - Saturday morning (yesterday). Granted, she had breast cancer, not ovarian, but she brought a tremendous amount of dignity, courage, and working through it all to her cancer fight, and she brought a great deal of publicity and fund-raising for cancer research to this state.
I was very struck by one of her mottos - "When Life Kicks You, Let It Kick you Forward." I immediately thought of Bonnie and our dear departed Joanne. It sounds like a fitting motto for all of us Teal Warriors. Thanks and hugs to everyone. Carol

    Coach
I read that she had died also - quite the battle. I love that motto though Carol - I am going to use that from now on. Thanks for sharing!

I love the motto also. Saw the feature on TV yesterday. Thanks for your post. I have just had a friend that was only 45 that got her "angel" wings a couple of weeks ago. I think we all can relate, no matter what kind of cancer, don't you? Saundra

Hi Carol, I also like that motto. I read about Coach Yow. She was a great person. I still miss Joanne, I can't believe she is gone.

Hi Carol2dogs... I just love your name here so had to use the whole thing. What kind of dogs is my question?

I love the "Angel Wings" saying and now think I need to make a quilt square for the MOCA quilt with it on it, for all those that have already recieved their angel wings. And the coaches motto I need to steal too ~ as that is such a wonderful way to look at life and is a fitting motto for teal warriors and really for anyone dealing with hardships in their life.

I know in 2008 too many women lost their lifes to this disease, I pray that 09 brings better percentages of survival. Hopefully with all the ad campaigns in 2008 women are being diagnosed earlier.

Sending lots Hugs N Prayers to all. Bonnie

    My dogs
    Bonnie,
Thanks for asking. I have 2 rescue dogs. One is mostly black lab and the other has that all-American "mutt" look, supposedly part Australian Shepherd, but looks nothing like one.
She is the one in my picture - absolutely adorable at 8 weeks, adorable-ness long since outgrown.
    My dogs are my children.
    Love and teal hugs,
    Carol
