Lisa Rose just circulated an email announcing the passing of Heather Maes, known here as tennislover. She was a beautiful person both inside and out with a heart of gold. She posed in the colondar 2008 as Miss December. She has been absent from these boards for quite sometime, but mainly due to working on legislative tasks promoting early detection. We now have another angel looking down on us all.

Hugs,

Stacy

As always it is quite difficult for me to read a post where another angel is called home due to cancer. I am sure Tennislover is in a better place. peace with her family.

This is too sad,I remember Heather from the begining we both started on this board more or less at the same time,I remember with how much enthusiasm she was fighting this desease, and even the celebration few months after her dx for being NED.This is just terrible.

    not in vain
Heather lived her life as an activist. I'm sure in her short life that she saved many by encouraging early screening. She will be missed.

    Heather Maes passing
Stacy, thank you for sharing the news with us. It is always sad to hear of another one who has lost the battle here on earth, but comforting to know that we have another one in heaven doing battle for us from above. She was so young and so beautiful. I am sure she will be missed terribly by her family. Mary

I am deeply saddened to read this news. Yes, she was a very beautiful person. I pray for her family and friends to find peace, as she is no longer in pain. The world has lost such a wonderful advocate and voice. Rest in Peace, Heather. You will be greatly missed by all.

Stacy, thanks for letting us know about Heather. She was a strong and beautiful woman, and I am sure she will be missed by many. My prayers and thoughts are with her family at this time. May God give them strength to get through the coming days, and peace knowing Heather is in a better place and no longer in pain. Say hello to my mom, Heather, and give her a kiss from me.

    Thank You Heather
I met Heather on this website when I was grasping for anyone who was "like me". Young , two kids and colon cancer. Heather was there for me in my early days of confusion and diagnosis. We exchanged phone numbers and she was who I called when I was confused, scared, wondering...she got me through some dark dark times. She understood everything I was going through and hearing her made me feel like I could make it. I am stage 3, and she was stage 4. But I used her as my "model" of how good stage 4 can be. She taught me a lot about colon cancer, and about surviving. Her death hit me hard - although we know the realities of stage 4, Heather seemed to be better than any statistics.
God sent me Heather - a gift - an angel to lift me up during my low times. I will be forever grateful to Him for sending her to me at that time.
All I can say now is - do not underestiamate the power of the support that you all give on this website - we need each other - so keep up the good work.
I hope I can do for someone , what Heather did for me.
    Thank you Heather.
Your children will be in my prayers.
