First of all I want to thank all of you fro the cyber hugs and the big bear hug(Thanks Bill). I saw dr yesterday while I was at chemo and he is sending me for a bilateral chest xray and left rib xray. He sadi there is only a 10% chance of it being the cancer but he wants to check just to be sure (and I think to ease my mind). So why can't I stop thinking about that 10% yes I know I have a very good chance of it being absolutely nothing but I think of that 10%. I was unlucky enough to get the beast at 29 so why won't I be unlucky enough to be that 10%. I know I am whining but I have been so down lately and nothing seems to cheer me up. But anyways thanks again to everyone This site is so wonderful I don't know what I would do without it.

Its okay to whine if you need to - if you can't do it here, where can you? I am so glad your doctor is checking everything out for you - it won't be long and you will have your answers. Hugs and try to have a good day.

Such is our nature~once we have been touched by the beast, EVERYTHING takes on an ominous nature, doesn't it? Before cancer, if you had say, wanted to get pregnant, and your Dr told you a certain drug/procedure would give you a 10% chance, what would you have thought?? Most likely that you would fall into the 90 percentile who would NOT get pregnant! So, why not be in the 90% now??? Who says you will be in the 10??? I don't know that that was the perfect analogy, but hopefully you will know what I meant!

So...we are pulling for you to be in that 90%!!! I agree that you must have a great, caring Dr who wants to be sure, and put your mind/heart at ease.

    Let us know!

    Hugs,
    Claudia

Hey, I know exactly what you mean. I was told I was only at 10% risk of my cancer spreading to the other breast, but I had a bilateral mastectomy to get rid of the 10% risk. I am so glad that your Dr. is doing what he can to find out about that 10%. I will join with the others in putting you in the 90%.

I also know how it is to be down and depressed, even when everyone and all logical evidence indicates that I should not be. That's when I have to depend on the prayers and faith of others. I believe times like these are when Jesus carries us (look for the poem about footprints on a Christian website, or in a bookstore, if you have not seen it).

This is a great place to whine and gripe and cry with folks who understand.

    Take care of yourself, seof

Oh, Stephanie (that was my daughter's name), all your feelings are normal.

Cancer shatters our thinking that we are safe. And protected. And will live a long, long life. When it comes down to it, that is probably why we can not 'go back to normal' after our treatment.

As far as cheering...watch any Mel Brooks movies? How about MASH repeats? Or the ventriloquist, Jeff Dunham...he is a HOOT!!!!

We all have had (and HAVE) our ups and downs...don't be hard on you! And, realize, as you said, we are here to lend a sympathetic ear!

    Hugs, Kathi
  • OK GIRLS....No fair giving out all the Wonderful Words of Wisdom before I get here so there's nothing left for me to impress Stephanie with. LOL

I went for xrays this morning and after doing a few the xray tech says to me "Where did your cancer start?" Ok how I am supposed to take that? I called dr and told his receptionist what was going on and he is going to see if he can expedite the results so I can stop driving myself crazy. But I can't believe she would have said that unless there was evidence of it spreading. So now I am pacing around my house unable to relax while I wait for dr to call. I'll let everyone know how that goes

I know what you mean! My doc said my chance of recurrence is about 10%. My husband was very relieved that it was so low, but ofcourse I keep focusing on the 10% thinking I got the cancer in the first place.....right? So you are not alone believe me. Good luck with the x-rays, I will add you to my prayers tonight. Eil

O.K., here's my take on the x-ray tech with no tact---he/she asked that because he/she didn't see anything ANYWHERE and wanted to make sure all areas were covered in all the shots! Remember---90% that it's nothing!
