Any word on how to deal with neuropathy. Someone suggested drinking pineapple juice and it has helped a bit. My onc told they are working on some meds for this, but it still on trial. Thanks much for your help. Love, Maritza

I didn't know they were working on new meds for neuropathy. So thanks for the heads up:) When this reached my knees, I was taken off my current chemo and placed on another (last 6 mths).

I still wear gloves to keep my hands warm and secure, and I know I walk funny still.

I deal with it by remembering that this will pass:)

Hope that someone else here can be of more help to u....God Bless

Calcium and magnesium is thought to work. I take is orally and I don't think my neurapathy has progressed. I have done 17 rounds of folfox and I walk fine and can still function. I do have the numbness in hands and feet and tingles sometimes. I also have electric feeling down my neck when I move my head a certain way. The culprit is the oxyplatinum. It also is the booster drug for the 5FU. It will hopefully go away after chemo.

Below is a couple of links for more info on Ca & Mg treatment:

    Hello,
I've been reading the posts about those suffering with the neuropathy and nerve pain since my HB has it so bad and has tried the vitamins, taking the nerve pain meds, but still has it as bad as always.
I'm willing to try the pineapple juice even though it sounds pretty crazy. I wonder what the logic is with that? But heck, it can't hurt I guess.
Are you on any nerve meds like Lyrica or neurontin? the neurontin has helped a bit, but only with the pain. How long have you had it?
I wish you relief from this soon, take care.

    Hi there,

Th pineapple juice was recommended by one of the nurses in the clinic and it seems to help a bit. The only thing with the juice is that it gives me heartburn because of the acid. My oncologyst do not want to give me any meds because he said it might affect the chemo. I had eight treatment of chemo, (5fu, oxiplatin, leucovorin and Avastin). Then took a brake for surgery and them I'm now on a 12 treatment and have done 5 of this already. What is weird is that on the brake I took for about three months I still had the pain in my hands and feet. I pray God it will go away afer the treatment or that the Dr will give me some meds for this. It's awful trying to do things around the house, even washing my face hurts or after I try doing dishes with gloves on, of course.

Hey, but you know what, I'm a woman of great faith and with a very positive spirit and stay of mind. This will pass also, I know it. I heard that Methyl B-12 works great and also the B-6. I will try them both and pray God will add His power to these so they can work.

I will pray for us all for comfort now and a cure in the near future. Keep up the faith and don't give up, try to stay positive as much as you can and surround yourselves with people that you love and love you!

    Much love and God bless!
