Well the one good thing about having my port put in Monday is that it made me forget temporarily about the pain from my lumpectomy/sentinel node surgery (burning sensation), lol. I don't quite understand why I have shoulder pain though from the port surgery. My chemo starts Friday - a little nervous but I really would just like the pain from the surgeries to go away soon. [on a positive note, only the sentinel node was positive, other 9 glands removed were negative for cancer...yippeee!]

Congrats on only having one node involved~ it's nice to be able to exhale, isn't it? :-)
My coller bone ached when the port was put in, and remained tender. Not pain, exactly, but an "awareness" if that makes sense. I figured our poor bodies have been poked, prodded, cut on, pulled apart, stiched up, tubes inserted and removed...heck yeah your "non-affected" parts might hurt! We are all connected in one way or another....nerve endings, etc.
Happy healing! the port will make your life easier!
    Hugs,
    Claudia

Sharon~ congrats on the negative ones!! Congrats on having a port put in! I was sore also, then I realized all the moving around that was done in there I was apt to be sore. To let you in a little secret...take a BIG breath b4 they attach the tubes, it takes the edge off of anticipation of the poke. I was very happy to have had the port.
