Hello to all, my name is Charlotte and I am new here as well. I am sorry we have to meet this way, but here we are. I am on Topotecan now also and it is working very well for me so far. My CA125 was down to 25.3 at last check. I continue to hope and pray for us all that a cure will be found. I wish you all a great day. :)

Welcome, Charlotte. I hope you will continue to come here for lots of hugs, support, prayers and info, and to make lots of new friends!

It's wonderful that your CA125 is responding so well to the treatment. How many more to go? Yes, we all also pray for a cure for this and all cancers. Peronsally, I believe that there are many options available to us, some of which have not been accepted as of yet. Maybe someday we will have a 'meeting-of-the-minds' and they will offer the best of both worlds. In the meantime, stay strong, stay positive, and drop in and let us know how you're doing!
    Hugs & Prayers!

    Welcome!
I liked the Topotecan for lesser side effects but it didn't work so well for me. I'm glad that you and others here are getting some remission or at least lowered ca125 from it. We are very fortunate to have these drugs for recurrences. Again, welcome to the board and the best of luck with continued low #'s.

Hi Charlotte, I came across this interesting article yesterday. Not only is topotecan helping ovarian cancer patients it is also
‘St. Jude researchers have shown that the drug topotecan holds promise as a treatment for the recurrent form of a kidney cancer called Wilms tumor, a solid tumor of the kidney that arises from immature kidney cells, and the fifth most common tumor among children.’
    The link is http://www.news-medical.net/?id=28907.
I wish you all the best and my prays are with you.Irene.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

This is a great site to discuss and learn about all sorts of things. I'll start by telling a little of my background. I was dx in Nov. 2002 with stage 3a in surgery for hysterectomy. I was 45 and since then have been on a roller coaster of chemotherapy and remission. Chemo drugs consisting of Carbo/Taxol, Carbo/taxotere for 3 recurrances until it was ineffective and disease progressed...now I'm finishing my 5th block of topotecan and my CA125 is 14.
I want to thank BonnieRose for starting the thread for me as I didn't have clue how to...I just jumped in with both feet. Many thanks to everyone else for the encouragement, and kindness. Sending strength and well wishes to you all. Thoughts and prayers,

Yay Charolette, and your good numbers, too!

Next time you want to post on the main page, just click on 'start a new topic' in the right upper corner. Some of this stuff is tricky, but you'll have it in no time.
I was interested to hear that you used carbo/taxotere for more than one recurrance. May I ask how long it worked each time? It's truly the most drastic of all the drugs but I may ask for it again as my low #'s are not coming anymore and the gemzar is causing other problems. I really thought the Topotecan to be low on side effects and wish I'd responded better. It is wonderful to hear you are doing this well on it. I think you can do it indefinitely and other than thinning hair, it's an easy one. You're about to celebrate 5 years! Congratulations and again, welcome. You certainly bring hope with you.
