senecot reaction?

Anyone had a reaction to using senecot long term? After so much chemo, my bowels seem to have quit working, and I don't know what else to try. Suggestions?

    My problem from the very first. I had to call the Dr. for a strong laxative and I'll do anything to avoid that the next time. Drink lots of water and I switched to Dulcolax because the Senecot just didn't do the trick. For the next two treatments I used a stool softener daily before and after treatments and Dulcolax only once. For some reason after the 4th the problem is reversed and I don't need either. Don't know about long term.. Hang in there, we are both learning that each treatment brings new experiences to our bodies. Hugs..

    Did you use the Sennakot-S? There are three difference types of Sennakot and the 'S' is the one you take if your irregularity is medication-induced, such as chemo. There are so great suggestions here. As one who really suffered with constipation during chemo (2 occurrances), I can tell you I know how miserable it is. Just try to keep up your fluids, even if you have to suck on ice chips or something like that. Nuts and seeds are great sources of fiber, as are most veges, of course. If you can't handle the whole nuts and seeds, grind them up and add them to cereals, even with yogurt it's good. Try to avoid anything binding like cheese, bananas. I hope this helps. Take care.
