Hi everyone,

Well it has been a while since I have posted, but I have been here very often. It has been a long road for me lately. I had a bad reaction to the Taxol. It shut down my liver, caused pancreatitis, and gall bladder irritation. Spent 10 days in hosp. They stopped the Taxol after 5. Not worth the risk to my pancreas.
Funny, I got thru A/C with no problem, and the easier Taxol really did me in.
I went into radiation and completed 37 treatments.
I feel good, and my tumor marker has gone from 25 to 20, which they tell me is good, and I am taking Femara. So far no bad side effects.
My husband was rushed to the hospital 2 days before St. Patricks Day. He had a bowel perforation and they had to remove several feet of intestine. They say the colostomy is reversible if the colon heals in 3 months. I pray it is so, but I am worried about his going into another surgery at 70. It seems we have not had much good in the past few years, but with the Grace of God, we will get thru this too.

For any of you still in treatment, hang in there. It isn't so bad, and the end result is a blessing. Stay focused and believe. If there are survivors from 20 years ago, just think of the possibilities for us newbies??? If God is with us, who can be against us???? Have faith.

Blessings
Toni

Hi I am so happy for you! I finished chemo about 6 weeks ago and will start radiation soon. My husband had something similar to your husband he had to have some of his colon removed after it ruptured. I know that is a rough surgery and I hope he is doing good. I am so happy for you that you made it through treatment.
My A/C was easier than the Taxotere I was on. I ended up in the hospital after the last treatment. It just all caught up with me I guess.
Take care, and YAY for you!!!!

Naked happy dance for finishing treatment!!!!!!

It's amazing how our bodies tell us "ENOUGH!" I was the opposite, A/C nailed me...didn't take the last one...sailed thru (relatively....drank ALOT of water..hehehehe) the Taxol. Now all that's left is recovering and healing for you!

Tell your hubby welcome to the semi-colons! There is a very serious group here of us....anyone who has lost colon...e-mail me if you need some tips during recovery....I'm doing it right now for another semi-colon....'normal' is the best sounding word, spoken from one who has been there/done that (lost my rectum and sigmoid colon)!

    Hugs, Kathi

Yay! Congratulations on finishing treatment. I had a severe toxic reaction - not to the Taxol - but to the Benadryl that was supposed to protect me from the Taxol. As Kathy says, sometimes your body says enough. I hope your husband has a speedy recovery and you can settle down to a normal life again.

    Hugs.
