MAKE TODAY GREAT

Hi All. I had yesterday off and had some time to think, a luxury in my life. I ran 3 times yesterday (once with my wife, once alone and once with my daughter, who is running in the NY State Championships in cross-country this Saturday!). I also lifted weights at the gym, had a nice lunch in town and shopped, then made dinner for the family. I can remember thinking that I might never be around for these days and I just want to encourage everyone to fight like hell for this life! Life is so sweet. It is never perfect, but is it sweet. I am back at work today, feeling a little rested and a ittle wiser. My life is my priority and cancer has only helped me focus on that life in a better fashion. Now, how many of you think I should pose on the colonder for 2008? I'm back in pretty good shape...have the required scar and just need a little push from the crowd. Let me know.

    RunnerZ,

You GO FOR IT!!! Can't wait to see that runner's bod in the Colondar!!

Yes, life is good and worth fighting for. We must be on the same wave length - today is a great day for me too. First day I've felt really good since my last chemo treatment a week ago!!

One more treatment to go then off to have scans on December 4th!

    Today is a great day!

Thanks for the uplifting message. You made me smile.

I know what you mean RunnerZ. As this holiday season approaches I have thought about how every year since my diagnosis I sit there and stare at the Christmas tree wondering, will I be here staring at it again next year? I guess we never really know the answer to that question, but it is nice to know that more than likely I will be staring at it this year! It is true that each day is a gift and we must take advantage of them. Get out there and do something special TODAY!
    Cheers,
    Susan.

P.S. Why not do the Colondar?I have thought about it before too, seeing that I am only 36!
It might be your only chance to be a MODEL!!

    Hi Runner,

I am so glad you had a day to regroup and enjoy your life and your family.

Absoloutely consider applying for the 2008 Colondar. You sure have my vote.

    Runner -

You would be FANTASTIC for the Colondar! I'll even give you Molly's "secret" e-mail address...

I can tell you from personal experience that it's an absolute blast - very similar to a ColonPalooza. Molly and Hannah's philosophy is that, even if they don't sell one Colondar, it's worth it just to bring a big group of survivors together.

Of course the fact that I was one of just a couple guys surrounded by beautiful women for my week of shooting last summer was pretty worth it, too!

My personal opinion is that any day I (a) wake up and (b) put my feet on the ground and get out of bed is a GREAT day.

    Cheers!

    Hi Runner -

You are inspiring me - every once in a while, in spite of doing really well, I get a tad down. Today was one of those days - your message came at just the right time.

    Take care,
    Betsy

Can't help to share this tidbit from Ralph Walso Emerson: Write on your heart that everyday is the best day of the year.

Thanks so much for your wise and uplifting post Runner!

    Ying -

So you're a fan of the Frontier Philosopher, too?

    My favorite Emerson is:

What lies behind you and what lies before you are tiny matter compared to what lies within you.

VERY apropos to this group, methinks.

    Cheers!
